Maruti Ritz hits two-lakh sales mark

Within a span of 36 months since its launch, Maruti Suzuki Ritz has crossed the two-lakh mark in terms of numbers of units sold.

This also takes into account Ritz’s export volumes – Maruti started exporting the hatchback in January 2010 and has so far sold over 8000 units to various destinations in South-East Asia and neighbouring markets. The Ritz has done reasonably well even in the domestic market during this fiscal, with a sales figure of over 64,000 units.

On the achievement, Shashank Srivastava, chief GM (marketing), Maruti Suzuki said, “We are happy that Ritz has found appreciation for itself among consumers across age groups. Launched in 2009, Ritz has indeed played a wonderful inning so far. In current context too, when the market is skewed towards diesel, we expect Ritz to gain more volumes in the future as well.”

To further boost its volumes, Maruti is set to give the Ritz its first mid-cycle facelift. The updated Ritz will sport a minor cosmetic upgrade, updated interiors and lighter shades. Under the hood, we expect the 84bhp 1.2-litre petrol and the 74bhp 1.3-litre diesel motors to be carried over.
