Lexus ES 300h facelift global unveil on April 25

Lexus will unveil a mid-cycle refresh for its globally popular ES 300h sedan in the coming days. The updated executive luxury sedan will replace the current model that is on sale in many international markets, including India.

However, the ES 300h has been leaked on the internet ahead of its official unveil on April 25 that’s set to take place at the upcoming Beijing auto show. The leaked image shows the car’s nose and confirms multiple styling changes that will come on the refreshed model. Overall, its styling mimics the recently unveiled LS full-size sedan.

The 2019 Lexus ES 300h sedan looks sharper and gets mildly tweaked headlamps, with new LED inserts. Lexus’ trademark ‘Spindle Grille’ is now more pronounced and now gets vertical slats instead of horizontal ones on the outgoing car.  It also gets added chrome around the fog lamps on the slightly tweaked bumper.

The new car will continue to ride on Toyota’s TNGA platform that also underpins the Camry and other models sold internationally. It will get additional safety features like pre-collision warning and steer assist. There are no mechanical changes expected on the updated car and it will continue to come with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, coupled with a hybrid motor.

There is no news on an India launch for the updated ES 300h; however, it will be safe to expect Lexus to bring the model to India in the future. The carmaker recently commemorated its first year of sales in India with the commencement of deliveries of the new NX 300h SUV in the country.

The ES 300h, along with a few other models in India, is priced quite steeply and Lexus has been evaluating local assembly to help bring down its pricing. However, the company has not taken any decision yet. Read more.
