Chevrolet announces price cut for Sail U-VA

Chevrolet has slashed prices for the Sail U-VA hatchback. The hatchback’s earlier starting price of Rs 4.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane) for the base 1.2-litre petrol variant has now been revised to Rs 4.19 lakh for all models produced in 2013. There is also an additional discount of Rs 3,000 being offered for all corporates on models produced this year.

Also, 2012 models of the U-VA are being offered with an additional discount of Rs 25,000 on both petrol and diesel variants, bringing the starting price down to Rs 3.94 lakh.

Since its launch in November, 2012, the Sail U-VA’s sales have consistently been sliding, with the hatchback hitting a peak of 1,595 units sold in November, 2012. That figure slid to a paltry 560 units sold in February, 2013.

The Sail U-VA is the first model in India from the GM-SAIC joint venture, and is powered by a 79bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel motor.
