Car comparisons have always been popular reads, and for reasons understood. They tell you how good or bad a car is, and also pit it against competition as a litmus test to further verify if a new car is worth all the money you’ll spend on it. We’ve made a list of the most popular comparisons over this year, so can go through it. All at one place.

Hyundai Xcent vs Maruti Swift Dzire vs Honda Amaze comparison

Best of 2014: Top car comparisons

The compact sedan segment in India witnessed a massive growth in popularity, but at one point of time, it was down to a two-car battle. The ever-popular big-seller Maruti Dzire was beginning to face heat from the car that put Honda back in the list of volume sellers, the Amaze. The Amaze was also the beginning of Honda's diesel engine era. Soon after, Hyundai jumped onto the compact sedan bandwagon, with the Xcent. Technically a booted Grand i10, the Xcent had a lot going for it – smooth running engines, lots of cabin space, high equipment levels and Hyundai’s capable service network. Honda City diesel vs Skoda Rapid diesel comparison

Best of 2014: Top car comparisons

Things changed when the latest generation of the Honda City was launched. Honda’s new 1.5-litre diesel plonked in the latest City was expected to stir things up. We decided to pit the two capable mid-sizers against each other to see which one comes on top.

Honda Mobilio diesel vs Maruti Ertiga comparison

Best of 2014: Top car comparisons
The Mobilio marked Honda’s entry into the burgeoning MPV segment, and it got a lot of attention too. It’s attractive to look at, very practical, and powered by a set of accomplished engines. Plus, after Honda’s success with the Amaze and the City, the masses expected the Mobilio to be another blockbuster. But there were still some questions unanswered– is the Mobilio a better car than Maruti's already-successful seven-seater, the Ertiga? Can Honda end the Ertiga’s reign at the top? Two MPVs very similar in concept. One best-seller. One new-comer. We let them have a go at each other to find out which one betters the other. Read full story here.
