Chevrolet has revealed new information about the electric motor that will be used in the 2013 Chevrolet Spark (Beat) EV, an electric car they are looking to get to India.

Built at the company's plant in Maryland, the electric motor will produce 114bhp, that’s substantially higher than the Beat EV concept showcased earlier which only had 60 bhp. It will be sold in limited quantities in select US and global markets. The motor has been co-developed by GM and its partner PATAC (Pan-Asia Technical Automotive Centre) based in Shanghai. For the new Spark EV, engineers have incorporated feedback gathered from participants in Chevrolet’s electric vehicle demonstration fleets from India, Shanghai and Korea. A123 Systems will supply the advanced nanophosphate lithium-ion battery packs that will power the Spark EV.

What's not clear however is what kind of range the car will have, especially with the motor drawings much current.
