The Pulsar RS 200 is Bajaj’s newest sportsbike that will go on sale on March 26. In the nomenclature, the ‘RS’ stands for Race Sport. Bajaj Auto has been putting out teasers of the upcoming motorcycle on its Facebook page all of last week, along with a countdown timer set for the launch date.

The Pulsar RS 200 is equipped with side-by-side projector headlights up front, with flush fit LED lights just above them that can also be used as daytime running units. The Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 has a fairing upfront that will help in deflecting the wind at higher speeds.

The faired version of the 2012 Pulsar 200NS, the RS 200 will be powered by the same motor — a 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that can deliver maximum power of 23.2bhp made at 9,500rpm and 1.86kgm of torque at 8,000rpm.

The Bajaj Pulsar in terms of performance, will compete against KTM’s 200 Duke and Honda’s CBR 250R. However, in terms of price, it is expected to compete against the Yamaha YZF-R15 which also happens to be a bestseller in its fully-faired 150cc segment.

With an expected price tag of around Rs 1.15 lakh, the new, sharp-looking Pulsar, as seen on Bajaj’s teaser website, is expected to be equipped with an ABS braking system, which will make it the first Bajaj motorcycle with this safety feature. Geared up to make its debut on March 26, dealers have already started taking bookings unofficially, for a token amount of Rs 5,000.
