I am a 60-year-old retired senior citizen. I am looking for a car for long trips of 20-25 days at a time to visit India’s religious, cultural, and historical places with my wife. I plan to drive a maximum of 200-250 km in a day with two to three halts. Please suggest a car that requires less effort to drive, is safe, fuel-efficient, and low in maintenance within a low budget. I am used to driving a two-wheeler, and this will be my first four-wheeler.

We would recommend you look at the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. The Celerio will deliver well on the mileage and maintenance front, and it is also very easy to drive with a compact footprint, light controls and a good view outside. The car also secured a 3-star rating in the GNCAP crash tests, which is just about ok.

If you'd like something better on this front, consider the Tata Tiago, which fares better with a 4-star rating. It offers a slightly better ride quality and stability at speed, but bear in mind the mileage will not be as good as the Maruti Celerio. Also, Tata dealers are not known to be very good with service.

I am a 4 feet 9 inches woman and need a car to travel to my office, which is 20 km from my home. The daily commute will be about 40 km. Please suggest a budget car within ₹6 lakh that is comfortable and adjustable for my height.

The Maruti Celerio would be a good option for you. It isn't a tall car, so getting in and out is easy, but despite that, the view outside is good. The top-spec car has height adjustment for the driver's seat, and we recommend that you sit inside this variant to see how it suits you. It would be slightly above your Rs 6 lakh budget, but with some year-end dealer offers, you could get it below that mark.

I need to buy a 7‑seater, and I am waiting for the Safari EV, but I really don’t know if Tata is actually developing the product or has just parked it for later. I can wait for 6-7 months. Do you have any reliable information about the status of the Safari EV, or should I go for other options?

The Tata Safari can be fully electrified, but Tata Motors had earlier put its launch plans on hold. However, following the launch of the Mahindra XEV 9S, Tata Motors has revived plans for the Safari EV to take on the XEV 9S to stop Mahindra from running away with the Rs 20 lakh three-row SUV space. The Safari EV is now likely to be launched by mid-2025.

Hi, I am 40 years old and have been riding an Activa for the last 10 years. I will be buying a new bike this year. The bike will mostly be used in the city for a daily commute of about 20 km, with very rare (once or twice a year) highway trips of around 300 km. I do not intend to ride at more than 90-100 km/h, even on highways. I am confused between the Hunter 350, Meteor 350, and Bullet 350. Please guide.

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is the lightest machine in the company's portfolio and will feel quite at home in the city and at the highway speeds you ride at. The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is a neo-retro roadster that will have the most comfort owing to its spacious, upright ergonomics and lovely ride quality. The Meteor 350 will have the most laid-back seating position, but over bad roads, a lot of road imperfections will filter through to your spine. A test ride of all three should help you decide which is best for you.
