•20wHi there, as a sedan enthusiast, I currently drive a Maruti Ciaz (though the Honda City was my dream car, I had a budget constraint). My Ciaz is extremely smooth and has clocked around 40,000 km. I mainly use it for long-distance family trips (usually 300-500 km round-trip). However, even though it runs perfectly, I often worry about it breaking down midway. So, is a pre-trip inspection really necessary before every long trip?

Gone are the days when you needed a pre-trip inspection for a 300-500km trip, which the Ciaz will easily take in its Ciaz. Modern cars, and especially Maruti Suzuki cars, are quite reliable and keep running without trouble as long as you have regularly maintained your car. Also, 40,000km isn’t very high mileage for your car, and it's only after 80,000-90,000km that any issues begin to crop up. Otherwise, all you need to do is stick to your service schedules and replace parts that need to be changed due to regular wear and tear. However, before every long trip, it's good practice to check the inflation pressures of your if replace them immediately if they are worn out. Never compromise on your tyres for your own safety. Otherwise, don’t worry about your car and if it's running fine, there is no reason for it to break down on a the highway. Drive safe.
