I recently purchased the Hyundai Venue HX6 1.2 NA petrol manual at an on-road price of approximately ₹11.5 lakh in Himachal Pradesh. However, after the purchase, I began to feel that the HX5 or even the HX4 variant might have been sufficient for my needs and would have cost less. Did I make the right decision?

Firstly, congratulations on your purchase. We wish you many safe and happy kilometres. The Hyundai Venue is one of the most well-rounded compact SUVs around, and its petrol engine and 5-speed manual combination is smooth and refined.

Yes, as you've pointed out correctly, the HX4 variant covers the basics very well, and being significantly cheaper than the HX6 variant, it is an excellent value for money.

However, now that you've already bought the HX6 variant, we'd suggest you enjoy it to the fullest and take full advantage of all the added features like sunroof, auto climate control, auto LED headlamps, rear wiper and washer, etc.

My car dealer asked me to pick up the booked car early. It is less than 20 days since I booked the car. The expected delivery time was 6-8 weeks. Is the dealer selling me a rejected car, or is the March target issue on his mind? Kindly advise.

It is quite common for dealerships to offer early delivery even if the originally promised waiting period was longer. This usually happens because a car that was allocated to another customer gets cancelled or becomes available earlier than expected. In many cases, the exact same car you booked may have already reached the dealer’s stockyard or was originally allotted to another customer who cancelled their booking. When that happens, the dealer typically offers that vehicle to the next customer in line. This is a normal practice and does not necessarily mean the car is faulty or rejected. If you are still doubtful, you can ask the dealer if you can inspect the car in the stockyard before the registration process begins. Once the car is registered in your name, there is very little that can be done if you later find something you are unhappy with.

I am currently driving a Maruti Suzuki WagonR (2017), and I now feel the need to upgrade as my monthly running is around 1,500-2,000 km. What car should I buy within a budget of ₹14 lakh?

Since your monthly running is on the higher side, a diesel SUV would make sense. The newly updated Hyundai Venue in HX 5 trim would fit in your budget and is a big upgrade from the WagonR. The engine is refined, frugal and tried and tested, and should you get the manual gearbox, it has a light clutch that makes it easy in traffic. The HX 5 also gets a good level of kit, like a sunroof, cruise control, touchscreen, reversing sensors, TPMS, etc. The ride quality is good too, and it has a decent-sized boot for outstation trips. Hyundai's after-sales network is also one of the best, and it would be a hassle-free ownership experience.

I currently own a 2018 Honda WR-V diesel manual (6-speed), which has run about 50,000 km, along with a Tata EV purchased in 2023, which has covered around 20,000 km. I have now decided to replace my WR-V with a BS6 diesel automatic car. Could you please suggest which diesel automatic model would be the best choice according to Autocar?
