Im currently using XUV300 diesel AT with daily run of 150km 6days a week with total run at 200000km and mileage is 20km/litre. Im thinking of buying new car Diesel AT. Confusion is between new venue AT diesel or 3xo. With mahindra i know engine is solid and can run 200000km again easily. Want to know if venue can match with engine and mileage?

That’s serious running, 150km a day, six days a week and clocking 200,000km on your Mahindra XUV300 diesel is a strong testament to how durable that 1.5-litre engine is. A consistent 20kpl with that usage is impressive too.
Given your positive experience, it’s only logical to look at the Mahindra XUV 3XO. It’s a significantly improved product over the XUV300 in terms of features, interiors and overall polish. But it continues with the same tried-and-tested 1.5-litre diesel engine.

That motor has already proven itself in your hands. The 6-speed AMT is also carried over. It’s functional and robust, but it’s not the smoothest automatic around. Mahindra hasn’t offered the torque converter automatic with the diesel (that’s available only on the petrol TGDi).

The Hyundai Venue diesel automatic, on the other hand, uses a 6-speed torque converter. It is noticeably smoother than the 3XO’s AMT, especially in stop-and-go traffic, and feels more refined in everyday driving.

The Venue’s infotainment system also feels slightly more polished and user-friendly. In terms of engine reliability, Hyundai’s 1.5-litre diesel has a good reputation and is widely used across its lineup, so durability should not be a concern.

Mileage figures in the real world are also broadly comparable to what you’d expect from the Mahindra.

That said, you already have first-hand proof of how tough and long-lasting Mahindra’s 1.5 diesel is. If long-term durability and familiarity matter most to you, the 3XO is the safer bet. If you want a smoother automatic experience and a slightly more refined overall feel for your high daily usage, the Venue is worth serious consideration.

Hi everyone, I’m planning to buy a compact SUV automatic for city driving in Delhi NCR with occasional highway trips. I’m confused between the Mahindra XUV 3XO TGDi AT and the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ AT. My priorities are: smooth automatic for traffic, good ride comfort for NCR roads, reliable ownership and reasonable maintenance, and decent mileage. Would love to hear feedback from owners or experts on which would be the better long-term choice.

Go for the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ AT. In Delhi traffic, it's automatic is very smooth, and the ride is mature on broken roads, and although not as supple as the Mahindra XUV 3XO, it is not a sore point. The 6-speed torque converter is known to be reliable and futureproof, as most torque converters are.For your stop‑and-go NCR commute, the Kylaq's calibration makes creeping and low‑speed shifts feel natural, reducing head‑nod in queues. You’ll also appreciate the 446‑litre boot on occasional highway trips. Ownership is predictable with 15,000 km/1‑year service intervals, and you can add an extended warranty (up to 6 years; confirm coverage in your city). Expect roughly 9kpl in Delhi traffic and 13kpl on relaxed highway runs at 90-100kph.The one thing you give up is the XUV 3XO TGDi’s stronger low‑end punch and overall power; the Kylaq AT feels calmer off the line and asks for kickdown for quick overtakes. If you prioritise a punchier engine and more rear seat space, consider the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7 TGDi AT instead, but if that is not a high priority, the Kylaq is more enjoyable to drive.

I am planning to sell my Mahindra XUV500 as it is nearing the end of its registration validity in Delhi NCR, and I want to buy a 5-seater SUV under ₹10 lakh. My preference is for a fuel-efficient car as my daily running is around 100 km, but it should also be spacious enough for five people. Since fuel efficiency is a priority, I am open to both CNG and diesel cars. My usage will be 70% city and 30% highway, mostly within Delhi NCR. I have narrowed my choices to the Maruti Brezza CNG, Tata Nexon CNG, Kia Sonet Diesel, and Maruti Fronx CNG. Please help me evaluate which would be the better option. I am also open to any other better option if available.

The Maruti Brezza CNG and Fronx CNG will be more fuel efficient than the Nexon iCNG, and their clutch and gearbox make them friendlier to drive, too. The Brezza is due for a facelift in the coming weeks, so you might want to wait for that to arrive. The Kia Sonet diesel will feel punchier to drive (than the CNG options listed above), while being very efficient too. Also, by opting for a diesel, you won't need to wait in long queues to refill CNG. Even the Sonet is due for a generation update, which is likely to be launched this year. Another option you could consider is the Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel MX2, which is more spacious than a Sonet. Its ride-handling balance is very impressive; the Sonet, however, has an edge in terms of fuel efficiency.

I really like the Skoda Kylaq 1.0 TSI AT, but I am unable to finalize my decision because of the rear seat space and a few other compromises. My other options within a ₹14 lakh budget are the Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX and the Nissan Magnite CVT. Considering these choices, which would be the best option overall? Also, what should I prioritise more in this segment - space and practicality or driving performance?

It's a shame that the Skoda Kylaq's rear seat space is not quite up to the best in the segment, because otherwise it is a superb compact SUV that scores highly on most other counts. Of the other options, the Nissan Magnite, while capable and a great value for money, feels like a sub-segment lower in terms of quality, space and performance. The Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX should be your best bet because it offers both - performance and rear-seat space. In fact, it has one of the most spacious cabins in the segment, although the boot is a bit smaller than others. The RevX offers a good feature set as well, along with a few unique styling embellishments, and overall, we feel this is the one you should pick.
