I am planning to buy the MG Hector Savvy Pro (top model) for around ₹21.5 lakh. It has almost all the required features and is very spacious compared to other cars in this price range. However, I am a little sceptical because I have seen many of your replies recommending other cars in this range-you mostly recommend Sierra and Seltos, but never Hector. Can you please let me know the reason? I will make my decision accordingly.

We recommend cars depending on people's specific needs. MG Hector is a spacious car and comes with a lot of features, and if someone is looking for those in a large SUV, we do recommend Hector.

Hector has not received a full, ground-up generational change since its launch in 2019. Mg has updated it many times with facelifts, but to compete in the fast-changing segment, Hector would do better to get a full generation change.

Hector's petrol and diesel engines are found to be thirsty units in the real world compared to their competitors. So if someone's priority is mileage, Hector falls low in their recommendation set.

I am looking to upgrade from a 2018 Ertiga VXI CNG to a petrol AT 7-seater for daily Mumbai city use majorly. I have shortlisted the MG Hector Plus Savvy Pro AT, Tata Safari Adventure X Petrol AT, XUV 7XO AX7 Petrol AT and Innova HyCross GXO (non-hybrid). Which one is the best option for long-term use, comfort for a large family of five, reliability and decent mileage?

Since mileage is a concern, the Toyota Innova HyCross will be ruled out here. The Hycross hybrid is a lot better, but the non-hybrid version is good for 7kpl at best, which isn't the best figure. The MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO are good and tech-laden, but the third row space is best for kids and short drives for adults.A good option to consider would be the Kia Carens Clavis. The Clavis is an MPV that is high on practicality and comfort, and gets multiple powertrain options and lots of features. The third row is spacious and close to the Ertiga in terms of roominess, thereby even adults can travel in comfort. The ride quality is good, and the turbo-petrol engine has enough punch even with a full load. The Clavis is also high on features, and it will be the best choice among all the rest.

I am planning to sell my Mahindra XUV500 as it is nearing the end of its registration validity in Delhi NCR, and I want to buy a 5-seater SUV under ₹10 lakh. My preference is for a fuel-efficient car as my daily running is around 100 km, but it should also be spacious enough for five people. Since fuel efficiency is a priority, I am open to both CNG and diesel cars. My usage will be 70% city and 30% highway, mostly within Delhi NCR. I have narrowed my choices to the Maruti Brezza CNG, Tata Nexon CNG, Kia Sonet Diesel, and Maruti Fronx CNG. Please help me evaluate which would be the better option. I am also open to any other better option if available.

The Maruti Brezza CNG and Fronx CNG will be more fuel efficient than the Nexon iCNG, and their clutch and gearbox make them friendlier to drive, too. The Brezza is due for a facelift in the coming weeks, so you might want to wait for that to arrive. The Kia Sonet diesel will feel punchier to drive (than the CNG options listed above), while being very efficient too. Also, by opting for a diesel, you won't need to wait in long queues to refill CNG. Even the Sonet is due for a generation update, which is likely to be launched this year. Another option you could consider is the Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel MX2, which is more spacious than a Sonet. Its ride-handling balance is very impressive; the Sonet, however, has an edge in terms of fuel efficiency.
