MG Windsor
The MG Windsor price starts at ₹14.10 lakh and goes up to ₹18.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The 5-seater Windsor is a midsize electric car in India and has been derived from the Wuling Cloud EV that is sold overseas by parent group SAIC, and it offers a roomy interior with plenty of modern features. At this price point, the Windsor rivals other midsize and even compact EVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Tata Nexon EV.
The MG Windsor is available in up to 5 variants and two battery pack options: 38kWh and 52.9kWh. Both versions come with a front axle-mounted electric motor that produces 136hp and 200Nm of torque. On the equipment front, the Windsor Essence Pro EV top variant comes equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 360-degree cameras, wireless charging, ambient lighting, OTA updates, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, ventilated front seats, a glass roof and a powered tailgate.
Safety features include standard six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, hill descent control, front and rear disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, TPMS and also an ADAS suite. The MG Windsor is available with a battery rental scheme, also known as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), where customers pay the price of the car exclusive of the battery. Essentially, buyers pay a nominal fee per kilometre driven. MG claims this lowers the initial acquisition cost and the per-kilometre expense as well.

MG Windsor price & variants
The MG Windsor EV is available in Excite, Exclusive, Essence, Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro trims. The non-Pro trims feature a 38kWh battery pack, while the Pro versions get a larger 52.9kWh battery.
Excite: The base-spec trim of the MG Windsor EV packs LED projector headlamps with DRLs, 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, fabric seats, 10.1-inch touchscreen, auto climate control, 60:40 split rear seats, rear AC vents, cruise control and more. The Excite trim is decently equipped, but it misses out on several useful features offered in higher trims.
Exclusive: Compared to Excite, the Exclusive trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seats, a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, wireless charger, OTA updates and more. With the smaller battery, the Exclusive trim is fantastic value for money, offering most of the niceties you would want.
Essence: The Essence trim adds ambient lighting, PM2.5 filter, Infinity 9-speaker audio system, 7.4kW AC fast charger, glass roof and ventilated front seats. The additional features on offer here are relatively limited, and it can be avoided.
Exclusive Pro: It is from here that the Windsor EV gets the larger 52.9kWh battery pack. Compared to the Exclusive trim with the smaller 38kWh battery pack, the Exclusive Pro adds a 9-speaker Infinity system (four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer) and ambient lighting. For those who have some highway use, this trim makes more sense.
Essence Pro: Features like a powered tailgate, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, and an ADAS suite are exclusive to the Exclusive Pro trim. However, compared to the small number of additional features that the Essence Pro packs over the Essence trim, it is priced on the higher side.

We don't like

Stiff ride over broken surfaces

The MG Windsor blends MPV, hatchback, and SUV traits in a unique mono-volume silhouette. Though shorter than a Creta, it stands out with a remarkable 1,850mm width and striking road presence. Design highlights include 18-inch alloys, pop-out door handles, and a lightbar-linked rear. However, the absence of a rear wiper and washer is a glaring omission. Its SUV stance is enhanced by 186mm ground clearance, roof rails, and piano black cladding.
8
Entry and exit are easy thanks to its tall stance and wide-opening doors. A massive 15.6-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard, though the smaller 8.8-inch instrument cluster feels out of place. The flat dashboard with built-in cupholders and generous ambient lighting lends it character. Seat comfort is good, though firmer cushioning and reduced lumbar padding would help. The standout feature is the reclinable ‘aero-lounge’ rear bench, ideal for chauffeur-driven buyers. A flat floor improves space, and while the rear seat is wide enough for three, the knees-up position may bother some. Boot space is class-leading at 604 litres (579 litres with subwoofer). However, there's no spare tyre unless opted for separately.
7
The 136hp front-mounted motor offers smooth, progressive performance and does 0-100kph in 9.8 seconds. Drive modes (Eco+, Eco, Normal, Sport) adjust throttle response, though acceleration differences are minimal beyond part-throttle use. Top speed is 153kph, and there are three levels of regenerative braking, with effective one-pedal driving possible. However, road and ambient noise easily filter into the cabin, impacting refinement.
7
Claimed MIDC range is 332km. In real-world tests, the Windsor averaged 8.1km/kWh, equating to 308km on a full charge. Efficiency drops significantly in Normal mode. Fast charging up to 45kW allows 0-80% in 55 minutes, while an 11kW AC charger tops up 25-80% in 3.5 hours.
7
Ride quality is harsh over rough roads due to stiff suspension and limited travel. At low speeds, it feels unsettled, but highway stability is excellent. Steering is light in the city and weights up well at speed. It’s not made for enthusiastic cornering but holds well thanks to its wide stance and 215-section tyres.
8
Top-spec variants get a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, wireless charging (slow), and a fantastic 9-speaker Infinity audio system. Safety kit includes six airbags, 360-degree camera, ESP, TPMS, and auto-dimming mirror. The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but it’s laggy and houses too many core functions, making usability frustrating. Missing items include rear sunblinds, a parcel shelf, and a rear wiper+washer.
9
Priced between Rs 13.99–16.14 lakh, the Windsor offers tremendous value. MG’s Battery-as-a-Service plan lowers entry cost by Rs 3.5 lakh, and buyback schemes guarantee up to 60% resale value after 3 years. Warranty coverage is generous, with a lifetime battery warranty for first owners.

Questions you may find useful
I drive around 6-8 km daily in heavy traffic in Gurgaon, with a monthly running of around 220-400 km. I am looking to upgrade from an i10 CNG. I want an automatic car with Auto Hold, good suspension, and stable handling. Features such as a defogger, cruise control, and ventilated seats would be good to have. My on-road budget is around Rs. 15 lakh. I am considering the Syros EV HTK, Nexon EV Creative 45, MG Windsor Exclusive, and Victoris VXi AT. I am also considering waiting for the upcoming Bayon AT, XL6 AT, Hyundai Inster, and updated Fronx. Kindly suggest which would be the best option for my requirements.
For your usage pattern of 6-8 km daily in heavy Gurgaon traffic and a monthly running of 220-400 km, an EV is the most sensible choice. Your running is too low for a diesel or CNG to make financial sense, and the stop-start nature of your commute is where EVs really shine with their smooth, silent operation and negligible running costs. The Kia Syros EV HTK would be our top recommendation from your shortlist. This Kia car offers a well-rounded package with a comfortable ride, a good feature set and a mature ownership experience. The MG Windsor Exclusive is also worth considering if rear seat space is a priority, but the Syros EV feels like the more complete product overall. The Nexon EV Creative 45 is a good value proposition, but the Syros EV feels like the more polished and premium offering. The Victoris VXI AT is a solid petrol alternative, but given your usage and budget, the EV route makes far more sense. As for the upcoming launches, the Bayon AT and Inster are all interesting options, but none are likely to fundamentally change the equation for your specific usage pattern. The Syros EV HTK is the car that will make you happiest after five years of ownership.
With a running of around 40 km per week and a budget of Rs. 16-20 lakh, which car should I buy? I like the Seltos, but I am also considering an EV, such as the MG Windsor. Please suggest whether petrol, diesel, or EV would be the best choice for my usage, and which car I should consider.
With just 40 km a week, your running is extremely low, so it doesn't justify the premium you'd pay for a diesel or even an EV. In this case, a petrol car is the most sensible choice. The Kia Seltos is a very good all-rounder and a safe recommendation in your budget. This Kia car offers a premium feel, good space and a comfortable ownership experience. The MG Windsor is a good electric car, but given your running, the financial case for an EV simply does not add up. You will not recover the higher upfront cost through fuel savings. The Seltos petrol is the more practical and cost-effective choice for your usage.
I am using MG Hector plus Savvy pro CVT April,2023 model but its mileage is coming down to 7 to 8 on highway due to E 20 fuel, company is also saying that yr vehicle is E 20 compliant and need not worry about engine but during my highway trip to Delhi journey, my car stopped on flyover while running and did not take start, i have to call RSA and car went to service centre by towing. In service centre they told me that while cleaning engine tank white color substance found due to this fuel injection line choked and did not take start due to E 20 petrol. Now I want to switch to EV of either MG windser or TATA punch EV or Maruti E vitara. which is suitable as safety and price wise and range and charging price. My budget is 15 lac.
I live in Navi Mumbai and am looking for an electric car. I've shortlisted the Tata Sierra Adventure 75kWh (around Rs 23 lakh) and the MG Windsor Essence Pro (around Rs 20 lakh). I'm not able to decide which one to go with.
Go for the Tata Sierra EV 75kWh. It's the superior EV in almost every way. It's got a significantly larger battery, so even if it isn't quite as efficient as the MG Windsor Essence Pro, the overall real-world range will be better. Though this MPV is spacious, the Sierra is even more so, with a much larger boot. It's more powerful with a rear-wheel-drive layout and more fun to drive as well. Tata's service network is also wider than MG's, so you are more likely to find something closer to you.The only things that could swing it in favour of the MG car are the fact that it is slightly smaller and thus easier to manoeuvre around town, and the Rs 3 lakh price difference. However, we feel in this case the Sierra EV 75kWh is worth the stretch, and that you should go for it
