Questions you may find useful
I am using MG Hector plus Savvy pro CVT April,2023 model but its mileage is coming down to 7 to 8 on highway due to E 20 fuel, company is also saying that yr vehicle is E 20 compliant and need not worry about engine but during my highway trip to Delhi journey, my car stopped on flyover while running and did not take start, i have to call RSA and car went to service centre by towing. In service centre they told me that while cleaning engine tank white color substance found due to this fuel injection line choked and did not take start due to E 20 petrol. Now I want to switch to EV of either MG windser or TATA punch EV or Maruti E vitara. which is suitable as safety and price wise and range and charging price. My budget is 15 lac.
I live in Navi Mumbai and am looking for an electric car. I've shortlisted the Tata Sierra Adventure 75kWh (around Rs 23 lakh) and the MG Windsor Essence Pro (around Rs 20 lakh). I'm not able to decide which one to go with.
Go for the Tata Sierra EV 75kWh. It's the superior EV in almost every way. It's got a significantly larger battery, so even if it isn't quite as efficient as the MG Windsor Essence Pro, the overall real-world range will be better. Though this MPV is spacious, the Sierra is even more so, with a much larger boot. It's more powerful with a rear-wheel-drive layout and more fun to drive as well. Tata's service network is also wider than MG's, so you are more likely to find something closer to you.The only things that could swing it in favour of the MG car are the fact that it is slightly smaller and thus easier to manoeuvre around town, and the Rs 3 lakh price difference. However, we feel in this case the Sierra EV 75kWh is worth the stretch, and that you should go for it
I am planning to buy the Tata Tiago EV Creative+ 24 kWh after comparing it with the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, and MG Windsor EV. I have to travel around 70 km per day, of which 7-10 km is within the city. What is your review of this? Is it worth buying?
For a 70km daily commute with only 7-10km of city driving, the Tata Tiago EV Creative+ 24kWh is a sensible and cost-effective choice. The Tiago EV is one of the most affordable EVs on the market, and its 24kWh battery is well suited to your usage pattern. With a daily round trip of 70km, you will be using roughly 30-40% of the battery per day, depending on driving style and AC usage, which means you can comfortably charge at home overnight without range anxiety becoming an issue. The Tiago EV is also compact and easy to manoeuvre, which is useful for the city portion of your commute, and its running costs are significantly lower than petrol or diesel alternatives. Compared to the Punch EV, Nexon EV and MG Windsor, the Tiago EV is the most budget-friendly option in electric cars. The Punch EV offers a higher driving position and more ground clearance, but it comes at a higher price and is not necessary for your usage. The Nexon EV and Windsor EV are larger and more expensive, and their extra space and features are unlikely to justify the additional cost for your daily commute. The only real drawback of the Tiago EV is its relatively small boot and basic interior compared to more expensive EVs, but for a daily commuter car, these are minor compromises. Overall, the Tiago EV Creative+ 24kWh is a practical and financially sound choice for your needs.
My budget is around 14 lakhs, and I am confused between the MG Windsor exclusive, the Tata Nexon Empowered 45 and the Tata Punch Empowered S40. Please Suggest.
Go for the MG Windsor Exclusive. At Rs 14 lakh, it offers the best ownership experience of the three. The MG car is a genuinely spacious family car with a comfortable ride, a premium cabin and a strong feature set. This MPV feels like a proper step up from your 2018 Nexon, with a more mature driving experience and a much more spacious rear seat. The Nexon Empowered 45 is a good car, but it is essentially an evolution of what you already own, and the Windsor simply feels like a bigger upgrade for the money. The Punch Empowered S40 is a solid value proposition, but it is a smaller car and does not feel as premium or as spacious as the Windsor. The only real drawback with the Windsor is that MG's service network is not as extensive as Tata's, but it is still a well-supported product in most major cities. Overall, the Windsor Exclusive is the best fit for your budget and your upgrade expectations.
I am confused between the Kia Seltos NA Petrol HTK manual and the MG Windsor EV Exclusive Pro. The rising cost of petrol and ethanol blending are my concerns regarding the Seltos, while the year-on-year reduction in battery state of health (SOH) is my concern regarding the Windsor (what if the range drops by 20% in 4-5 years?).
Pick the MG Windsor EV Exclusive Pro, because your main worry is fuel price and ethanol - an EV sidesteps both and makes daily running far cheaper if you can charge at home. In city use, this MPV is happier in traffic and with the AC on, and even if the battery loses 15-20% range in 4-5 years, most owners still have more than enough for a normal weekday. MG usually backs the battery for many years, so you are covered if degradation is abnormal with your MG car.The Seltos 1.5 NA is solid and E20-ready, so ethanol itself is not a deal-breaker. But mileage does dip a bit with higher ethanol, and if your monthly running is high, fuel bills will sting. Also, a manual Seltos in heavy traffic will tire you sooner than the EV’s one-pedal ease. The point to consider with the Windsor is highway convenience and charging access. If you do frequent long trips or cannot install a home charger, the Seltos will be simpler to live with today. But if your life is mostly city with occasional trips and you can plug in at home, the Windsor EV suits your concerns better and will cost less to run over time.
