Carmakers such as Tata Motors, Mahindra, Citroen and JSW-MG currently offer electric vehicles priced under Rs 15 lakh. Some of these electric cars are also available with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, which helps drastically lower the upfront cost. In this feature, we have listed these models in descending order of their standard ex-showroom prices, so read on to find out which is the most affordable one.
8. MG Windsor EV
Standard price: Rs 14.10 lakh-18.60 lakh
BaaS price: Rs 9.99 lakh-13.60 lakh + Rs 3.9-4.5 per km

The MG Windsor EV is available with 38kWh and 52.9kWh battery packs, and its electric motor produces 136hp in both versions. The smaller battery has a claimed 332km range, while the larger unit offers 449km on a single charge. Our Windsor EV review praised it for its spacious cabin and relaxed driving manners.
7. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Standard price: Rs 13.89 lakh-14.96 lakh

The XUV 3XO EV is Mahindra’s only electric vehicle to make it to this list. Its 39.4kWh battery pack powers a 110hp motor in the range-starting AX5 trim, while the top-spec AX7L bumps it up to 150hp. While variant-wise range figures are not disclosed, Mahindra claims a maximum range of 351km.
6. Tata Nexon EV
Standard price: Rs 12.49 lakh-17.29 lakh

One of the four Tata EVs to feature here, the Nexon EV is available in MR (Medium Range – 129hp, 30kWh) and 45 (144hp, 45kWh) guises. On a full charge, the Nexon EV MR goes up to 275km, while the 45 version returns 489km, the latter being the highest in this set. In our opinion, the electric Nexon is an all-rounder in the compact SUV segment, with good real-world range and feature set alongside strong performance.
5. Tata Tigor EV
Standard price: Rs 12.49 lakh-13.75 lakh

Next up is the Tata Tigor EV, which stands out as the only sedan in this list and is offered with a single 26kWh battery pack paired with a 75hp motor. While Tata claims a 315km range, which is decent for everyday use, the Tigor EV lacks the wow factor and some features. That said, these shortcomings are expected to be addressed with the Tigor EV facelift, set to arrive in this fiscal year. Tata could even introduce a BaaS option this time.
4. Citroen eC3X
Standard price: Rs 11.99 lakh-13.26 lakh
BaaS price: Rs 6.89 lakh-8.30 lakh + Rs 2.26 per km

The eC3X, the French carmaker’s only electric vehicle currently on sale in India, received an update in June 2026. Citroen has equipped the electric C3 with a 57hp motor and a 29.2kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 325km. With the June update, Citroen engineers have managed to increase the maximum range by 79km while using the same battery pack.
3. Tata Punch EV
Standard price: Rs 9.69 lakh-12.59 lakh
BaaS price: Rs 6.49 lakh + Rs 2.6 per km onwards

The Tata Punch EV, the most affordable electric SUV in India, received a comprehensive update in February 2026. With it, Tata introduced bigger 30kWh and 40kWh battery packs, replacing the previous 25kWh and 35kWh options. The 30kWh battery powers an 88hp motor and has a range of 375km (under certification), while the 40kWh unit is mated to a 129hp motor and claims an ARAI-rated 468km figure. Our review of the Punch EV notes that the ‘baby Nexon’ packs strong performance, comfortable ride quality and a well-equipped interior.
2. Tata Tiago EV
Standard price: Rs 7.99 lakh-11.14 lakh
BaaS price: Rs 4.69 lakh + Rs 2.6 per km onwards

The fourth Tata car on this list, the Tiago EV, received a major update in May 2026 and is available in two guises: Medium Range (61hp, 19.2kWh) and Long Range (75hp, 24kWh), with claimed range figures of 223km and 293km, respectively. Our Tata Tiago EV review highlights a plush low-speed ride quality and light controls as the electric hatchback’s strong points.
1. MG Comet EV
Standard price: Rs 7.63 lakh-10 lakh
BaaS price: Rs 4.99 lakh-7.63 lakh + Rs 3.2 per km

Not only is the MG Comet EV the most affordable electric car in India, but it is also the smallest in dimensions, featuring just two doors. The Comet is powered by a rear-axle-mounted 42hp motor mated to a 17.3kWh or a 17.4kWh battery pack (FC variants) and has a claimed range of 230km. In our time behind the wheel, the Comet displayed impressive efficiency. It’s a unique, quirky-looking car, with a well-built interior and sufficient space despite its compact dimensions.
*Applicable for Comet EV FC variants.
