Hi everyone ...i am Abhinav Gupta from Jaipur... For myself, I am a very huge & giant fan of cars... A true car-lover & car enthusiast... I'm maintaining a 2022 Tata Harrier diesel Manual Transmission...about it's mileage, it gives 11-12 km/l in city & 15-16 on highways ... I have done many road trips on this car & believe me ...its got great power & driving feel... About my long term experience, I am totally satisfied & would surely recommend anyone who is planning to buy this car
Please suggest an SUV for me with an annual running of around 8,000- 10,000 km, mostly on highways and mountain terrain such as Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. A manual diesel is my priority, along with safety. I have a family of two, and my budget is Rs. 10-15 lakh.
For your 8,000- 10,000 km annual running and frequent highway and mountain trips, the XUV 3XO diesel manual remains the first choice. This Mahindra car has compact dimensions that are useful on narrow mountain roads, while the diesel has plenty of low-end torque for climbs and rough terrain. It also offers strong safety credentials and is much easier to live with as an everyday car.If your Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir trips involve genuinely challenging terrain and you want a more capable off-roader, the Thar 3-door is the more specialised choice. The 2.2-litre diesel with 4WD offers a proper low-range transfer case, making it far more capable off-road than the 3XO.However, the Thar is less practical for everyday use. It is a four-seater, has limited boot space, and the rear seats are less convenient to access. The 3XO is therefore the better all-rounder, while the Thar makes sense if off-road capability is a major priority.
Hi, I am looking for a new car for my father (54 years old, 6 feet tall), who is currently using a second-hand Maruti 800. He works as a Police Inspector in Mathura, UP, and needs a comfortable and reliable upgrade for long-term use. Here are our exact requirements: Usage: Diverse daily duties, including jurisdiction commutes, court visits, police line visits and VIP duties Monthly running: 1,800-2,000 km, although this can vary slightly depending on his duties Driving mix: 50% city / 50% highway Key requirements: High comfort (essential given his height and daily travel), good mileage and reliability Transmission: Manual (MT) only Fuel dilemma: Given the high monthly running, we are confused between choosing a diesel or a petrol + CNG option Budget: Strictly capped at ₹16 lakh on-road in Mathura Could you please suggest the best long-term options that would suit his requirements and usage?
With 1,800- 2,000 km of monthly running, CNG cars make more financial sense than a petrol car or diesel option, especially with 50 percent of the usage being in the city. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG would be the recommendation as it combines good fuel efficiency with a comfortable cabin, sufficient space for a 6ft driver and Maruti’s wide service network, making it well suited to long term ownership. The CNG system is also factory fitted, so there is no need to compromise on reliability by adding an aftermarket kit. Its naturally aspirated engine is not particularly powerful, but for regular commuting and highway speeds it is adequate. The large CNG tank does reduce boot space, which is the main compromise.A diesel car could make sense at this running, particularly for frequent highway use, but the additional cost and complexity of a modern diesel make CNG more attractive when half the driving is in town. The running cost saving over 18,000- 24,000 km a year will also be significant.
I am planning to buy an Alcazar manual but am confused about whether to choose petrol or diesel. My usage will be in the city, and I will drive on the highway mostly on weekends. Please suggest whether I should go with petrol or diesel.
Go for the Hyundai Alcazar diesel manual. Your usage pattern of city driving with regular weekend highway runs is exactly where a diesel makes sense. The Alcazar diesel is a refined and efficient engine, and it delivers strong torque at low revs, which makes overtaking on highways effortless and reduces the need for frequent gear changes in the city. The Alcazar petrol, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, which is smooth and refined but lacks the low-end punch of the diesel, especially when the car is fully loaded. The diesel will also deliver significantly better fuel efficiency on both city and highway runs, which will add up over time. The only reason to choose the petrol would be if your usage was almost exclusively city driving and if your monthly usage is around 1,000 km or less with very low annual running. Given your mix of city and highway usage, diesel is the better choice.
I’m currently driving a Honda City MT i-VTEC as my daily driver in the city, but I’m not happy with its mileage. My daily usage in the city is around 20-30 km. I’ve shortlisted the Kia Seltos MT Diesel and MG Windsor. Please suggest which of these would be the better choice. Thanks.
With a daily city usage of 20-30 km, a diesel Seltos is not the right choice. Modern diesels need regular highway runs to keep the DPF healthy, and your usage pattern is predominantly short city trips. The fuel savings from diesel will also take a very long time to justify the higher purchase cost at your running. If you can arrange for home charging, the MG Windsor EV seems to be a better fit for your usage. This MG car is a very spacious, comfortable family car with a premium feel. Since your usage isn't much, you could consider the small battery version instead of the Pro - it'll be more affordable.
