Hi Team, I own a 2016 Ford Figo and am planning to upgrade to a sub-4-metre SUV. My usage is mostly within the city with one highway trip per year. Could you please suggest a car with good handling and steering feedback similar to what I experienced with my Ford? Thanks in advance.

The Skoda Kylaq would make a great upgrade from your Ford Figo. It's got the same fun handling character as the Figo with slick steering and crisp turn-in.

Adding to the fun factor is the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine that feels strong and punchy. Since the bulk of your driving will be in the city, you could consider the smooth 6-speed automatic transmission.

Otherwise, the 6-speed manual gearbox is fun in its own right.

I want to switch over from manual to automatic, preferably torque converter automatic transmission with a budget of 12 L. My monthly ride is 200 KM within city & 500 KM on highways. Unable to decide between Maruti Suzuki Brezza & Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. Please let me know your suggestion.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza will fit your needs better than the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. The Brezza is powered by a refined 103hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that can be had with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It has a claimed mileage of 19.8kpl. The Brezza also comes with more features, like a sunroof and heads-up display. Moreover, it has a roomier cabin and a comfier ride quality. Maruti Brezza price (automatic) ranges from Rs 10.60 lakh to Rs 13.01 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, meanwhile, comes with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with the same 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. While it is punchier, it won't be as fuel-efficient as the Brezza.

I have a strict budget of ₹15 lakh and am looking for a 7-seater. We have narrowed it down to the Kia Carens Clavis HTK with a naturally aspirated engine. Is this a good option, or is the turbo engine better for the long run, considering a family of six and frequent road trips? If Kia is not a good choice, what other brand and car do you suggest, and how should I factor that into my decision? Please advise urgently.

The Kia Carens Clavis is the best 7-seater within your budget. While the 1.5 petrol NA engine is decent, the added power and punch of the turbo-petrol engine will count for a lot, given that you travel with 6 onboard and go on frequent road trips. The enhanced performance is why we'd recommend you opt for the turbo-petrol. Doing so, will require you to go for the Kia Carens Clavis 1.5 Turbo HTE(O) in place of the 1.5 NA HTK. If you do break it down, you don't lose all that much by way of features. Features on the HTK that are missing on the HTE(O) include front parking sensors, auto climate control, DRLs and alloy wheels (though the Turbo gets larger and chunkier tyres). There is no difference in safety equipment or infotainment features.

I used a Brezza CNG and now I am confused between CNG and EV. Which one is better? I have a daily running of 100 km and want to purchase an SUV like the Brezza.

For your daily running of 100kms, an EV will do just fine, but you will have to charge it daily or at least every alternate day. Thus, we would recommend this only if you have access to reliable charging at either your home or place of work. Since you are looking for an SUV body style, you can consider buying the Tata Nexon EV or the recently unveiled electric Mahindra XUV3XO. If charging is an issue, a CNG would be a better choice; the CNG Brezza is a good performer. Do bear in mind that the CNG tank does eat into the boot space. If you would like to have a usable boot, then consider the Nexon CNG. It has dual CNG tanks below the floor, thus leaving you with an open and very usable boot.
