Please suggest a car with CNG and manual transmission that is suitable for occasional long highway driving, with an on-road budget of ₹12 lakh.

The Tata Nexon CNG would be a good option for you. Instead of one large CNG tank eating into boot space, it uses Tata’s innovative twin cylinder setup, which places two CNG cylinders under the boot floor. This means you don’t lose out on a proper usable boot. Moreover, there's also a spare wheel mounted under the car.

Boot space over the standard Nexon due to a higher floor, but it's still very useable and this and the spare can be handy on your long highway drives. The Nexon also has a good highway ride, and you will get a very well-equipped version in your budget.

Hi, currently I have been driving a Honda Amaze diesel top model since 2019. Now I want to upgrade my car to an SUV. My daily running is 45 km and monthly up to 1300 km, with 20% in the city and 80% on the highway. Please suggest a fuel-efficient and safety-loaded SUV under an ₹11-12 lakh budget. Please suggest.

Since you prefer diesels, the Tata Nexon would be a good choice for your needs. It gets a frugal 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is rated 5 stars for crash test safety in BNCAP and has a confident ride on the highway. The braking performance is good too, and in your budget, you can get the Pure + S variant that gets you a decent kit like LED headlamps, sunroof, reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, etc.The Nexon returns an impressive 16.5kpl in the city and an even more impressive 19.4kpl on the highway. It is a well-rounded SUV for your needs and hence our top recommendation.

Hi, I currently drive a 2015 Honda Jazz diesel with 200,000km on the odometer . I have got the best in everything from the same. Most of my travel is in Pune city, where I clock around 100 km per day, and once a month, I travel 1000 km outstation. So in total, around 3000 km approximately in a month. My budget is ₹15 to ₹18 lakh, but I need a better 5-seater SUV and expect a strong balance of mileage, power and style. Kindly suggest, as I am a big fan of diesel cars.

The Kia Syros HTX+ 1.5 diesel-AT is an excellent, versatile compact SUV that's spacious and feature-rich. It offers exceptional cabin space and gives you the flexibility to expand boot space to carry more cargo, should you need. The diesel-automatic combination is smooth, refined and efficient too. Yes, its styling might not be to everyone's taste, but if you like the way it looks, this is the one to go for.Other diesel-automatic options in that price bracket that you could consider are the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, both of which share their diesel-automatic powertrain. The Mahindra XUV 3XO is also a good, spacious option, and while its engine is very powerful, its AMT gearbox isn't as smooth as the torque converters that rivals offer. Even the Tata Nexon gets a diesel-AMT option, although it isn't as refined as the others.
