What’s the best first scooter for the family?

I’m in the market to buy our family’s first scooter. It will be ridden by me and my elder brother as well as his daughter. We want a reliable, fuel-efficient scooter that will fetch good resale value after five years. What are my options?

Autocar India says: If resale value is one of your biggest criteria, the Honda Activa is known to hold a commanding price in the second-hand market. It is a sought-after scooter, mainly for its bullet-proof engine that’s also known to be quite fuel-efficient. The scooter is also pretty easy to ride and that’s one of the reasons why it is such a popular family scooter. That said, the prices of the Honda Activa are slightly higher than comparable scooters such as the TVS Jupiter.

Alternatively, if you can stretch your budget by roughly Rs 7,000-Rs 10,000, we suggest taking a look at the Suzuki Access 125. It has proven itself as a quick yet fuel-efficient 125cc scooter and appeals to those who want sprightly performance from their ‘family scooter’.
