The Innova Hycross is a lot more expensive to buy, but has lesser running costs.

I need a 7-seater vehicle, but I am confused between the Kia Carens Luxury Plus and the Toyota Innova Hycross VX (O) 8-seater. Although it’s a huge difference in cost, budget isn’t a concern, value for money is. I have only been reading about the Hycross’ ZX (O) 7-seater, and nothing about the VX (O) 8-seater. Please suggest what I should go in for.

Autocar India says: Both the Kia Carens and the Toyota Innova Hycross are very capable 7-seaters, but in different segments and catering to different price points. The Hycross is the better choice if you travel regularly with lots of passengers as it is more spacious than the Carens, especially in the middle row where you can seat three comfortably. Also, the Hycross has a better ride, is more stable on the highway and feels a class bigger. However, the true benefit of the Hycross is its hybrid engine, which is incredibly fuel efficient, albeit very expensive. So, unless you are driving over 70km-80km a day, your return on investment isn’t realised. The Carens, on the other hand, is significantly better value as it packs in a lot of features and has some good engine options too, like a strong diesel. If you don’t need the maximum space possible, the Carens is a good value choice.
