Hello, I am looking to buy a new car to learn driving and later use it for daily office commuting of around 25km. As this will be my first car, I have set a budget of ₹6-7 lakh. I saw videos of the Citroen C3 X base model with add-ons, costing around ₹6 to 6.5 lakh. Can you suggest a suitable car for my needs, or is the C3X base model a good and practical choice? Appreciate your assistance in my car-buying journey.

The Citroen C3 X base model is a good first vehicle to own. Mechanically, C3X is a very sorted car, the 1.2litre turbocharged engine is solid and performs well. Its suspension is one of the best in the segment and will make your office journey enjoyable. You can go for it.

Hi team. What are your opinions on the VF7? There are hardly any media opinions on the car. The package is quite lucrative, but why is no one talking about it? The car undercuts both Tata and Mahindra and is plenty powerful with good styling. How does it stack up against the XEV 9e and the Tata Harrier EV? I value range, reliability, and looks.

Autocar India has driven the VF7, first in Vietnam and very recently in India as well. VinFast VF7 is indeed powerful; we drove the AWD variant and were pleasantly surprised by how quick it was. Looks are subjective, but we think if you compare it with the Mahindra XEV 9e, it's not as eye-catching and from some angles, it looks more like a hatchback than an SUV.Interiors look premium overall; there are no physical buttons except for gear selectors, and everything is controlled by the screen. While this approach isn’t new, the screen has noticeable lag.As for reliability, there’s no historical data to fall back on yet, and the bigger concern at the moment is the lack of a service and dealer network. If reliability is a priority, we would recommend going with the Mahindra XEV 9S or even XEV 9e, which offers a better value proposition.

I am very confused between the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector diesel. I like the Harrier’s looks but have concerns about service and maintenance costs. On the other hand, the MG offers a very good interior and lower maintenance costs. I currently drive a petrol Honda City. My maximum budget is ₹21 lakh. I am comparing the Harrier Pure X with the Hector Smart Pro. My monthly running is around 1,200km.

MG has updated the Hector recently, but the diesel prices are not out yet. MG has revised the prices of petrol variants downwards, and if it carries out a similar price drop in diesel, that will make Hector a compelling proposition. We suggest you wait for MG to announce the price of the diesel variants too. Between the two, since you want better service and maintenance cost, we will suggest you go with the MG Hector.
