Honda CB300R or Bajaj Dominar 400: Which sub Rs 3 lakh bike to buy?

The CB300R is much lighter than the Dominar but it also makes less power.

Honda CB300R price, Bajaj Dominar 400 mileage.

I’m considering upgrading from my 2017 Pulsar 150 and have shortlisted two options – the CB300R from Honda or a Dominar 400. I will be using it mostly for my 20km commute and the monthly weekend ride to my home in Boisar. I don’t want to spend more than 3L out the door. Please help me make the final decision.

Autocar India says: Both the options you have shortlisted are quite good and have their unique strengths. The 146kg Honda CB300R is the lightest bike in its class – by some margin – and that really makes it very potent in the urban jungle. Further bolstering the little CB’s case is recent price revision which now prices it at Rs 2.40 lakh, nearly Rs 40,000 less than what it used to command previously. The Honda’s reliability, refinement and inexpensive service is another plus point in the long run.

On the other hand, the 193 kg Bajaj Dominar is anything but lightweight. However, to its credit the weight doesn’t really come in the way of the riding experience and it does outscore the CB300R when it comes to comfort – both for the rider and the pillion, should you choose to travel two-up someday. While it is quite powerful, especially in this price bracket, the Rs 2.30 lakh Dominar does feel quite buzzy at highway speeds and its quality levels can’t match the Honda.

If you are comfortable with a smaller feeling motorcycle that has a more sporty riding position, we recommend you go with the Honda as it is the better city bike and will be more fuel efficient as well. If long distance comfort is the main priority, then consider the Dominar.

Just Curious, There are no comparisons in terms of touring ability, no mention of power difference, the limited availability of honda big wing centers, the pillion will be more comfortable on dominar?, without these mentions i don't think you can blatantly suggest CB300r.
