I want to buy a bike and my budget is Rs 3 lakh. I will be using it for long rides, so I need something that’ll offer a comfortable seating position.

AAA As covering long distances in comfort is your priority, we’ll focus on bikes that have strong performance, but will stay away from the sharper and sportier machines. With your budget, two options come to mind – the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Bajaj Dominar 400. The Interceptor has come out to rave reviews and it packs a gem of an engine with strong, but relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable performance. The riding position is very comfortable, but the seat is a bit narrow for long durations.
On the lower end of the price range, the new 2019 Dominar 400 packs more power, has improved refinement and better suspension comfort. We haven’t ridden it for a long duration yet, but the bike promises to be a great mile muncher.
If you want more rugged, go-anywhere capability, the Himalayan BS4 comes to mind, but this bike doesn’t have the power for effortless high-speed cruising.
