Hey Autocar, I am confused about the variant selection of the XUV 7XO launched on January 5th. I found the AX7 VFM variant attractive, but it lacks features like auto-dimming IRVM and an electronic parking brake. Now I am thinking of pushing my budget to purchase either the AX7 T or AX7 L diesel automatic. My doubt is whether to choose AWD or FWD with a ₹1 lakh difference. I have already pre-booked and now need to confirm the variant selection. Thank you.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a well-rounded product, and the AX7 T is the variant to choose as it offers all the premium features you would expect at this price point. You get a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, an electronic parking brake and much more.

As for whether you should opt for AWD, it really depends on your usage. If you live in the hills or regularly drive on challenging and slippery terrain, the AWD version can make sense. For most driving conditions, however, the Front Wheel Drive version will do just fine.

If your idea is to get into serious off-roading, the 7XO is not the best choice, even with AWD. For that kind of usage, the Mahindra Scorpio N or the Mahindra Thar Roxx, with higher ground clearance and a low-range gearbox, will be far more capable.

Hi, I’m planning to buy the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. It would be used mainly for weekend rides and city usage. I tested the bike all day with a rented unit, including some light off-road testing, and I’m satisfied with its performance and ground clearance. Could you please advise if any updates are expected for the SM650 this year, so I can decide whether to wait or go ahead and book the bike? Please advise. Regards, Harsha

Some time ago, a test mule of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor was spotted testing overseas with different rear shock absorbers. Moreover, considering its stiff ride has been one of the few complaints we've levied against it, this could potentially fix that issue. Considering that the Super Meteor 650 has been unchanged since its launch in early 2023, Royal Enfield could update it this year. However, there's no official confirmation from the brand regarding this.

Presently, I own a Tata Hexa diesel car and want to buy a second CNG-based car for daily use of about 25-30 km per day. We are considering three cars to choose from: 1) Brezza CNG, 2) Punch CNG, and 3) Exter CNG. Please advise your final recommendation. Regards.

Since you already have a Tata Motors vehicle, why not stay in the same service ecosystem and get a Punch. The Punch has recently been given a facelift with updated looks and features. As before, it comes with a dual-cylinder CNG setup, which doesn't eat up the entire boot, and still gives you 210 litres to work with. Moreover, you can now have the Punch i-CNG with an AMT gearbox for added convenience, and it even gets paddle shifters. Also, it is not restricted to base variants; the Punch CNG comes in fully loaded trims as well, but they do get expensive at the top end.

Hello, currently I have jupiter 125 disc scooty. My commute can go in range from 20-70 km in bangalore. I want to purchase a bike with a budget of 4-4.5 lakh. Please suggest me a bike and also I am 6'2" And prefer to go on weekend trip every 2nd weekend,

In the price range you're looking at, there are a variety of options in different body styles, so we'll list them out for you. If you want a sporty road bike, then options like the KTM 390 Duke, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and Triumph Speed 400 are the way to go. Do bear in mind that the KTM can feel quite cramped for taller riders and, over longer stints in the saddle, this will become even more pronounced. If you are leaning toward an adventure bike, you should be looking at the TVS Apache RTX 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure models. The RTX will feel the slowest because of its smaller displacement, and it also weighs 180kg. Since you have a long commute from time to time and are a taller person, we would recommend you steer clear of sportbikes and cruisers. Also, stick to roadsters or adventure bikes, as they will be more comfortable. A test ride of the above mentioned options - and anything else you may shortlist - will help you decide which bike is right for you.
