    Asked by: Adarsh Chatra I want to buy a car with an on-road budget of ₹10-12 lakh. My priorities are safety and mileage, with rear-seat space (for sleeping) as an optional preference. I do occasional long drives and typically drive about 100 km per week. I listed the Tata Nexon only to fill the form; please suggest the most appropriate car. The Kia Syros is a great option for you due to its spacious cabin and backseats, which recline for more comfort. Furthermore, its boxy design enhances the sense of space inside this cabin. Another good, spacious option is the Citroen Aircross X, which is a large car for compact SUV money. If you have a Citroen showroom near you, it is worth considering.

    Asked by: Jain I currently ride a Classic 500 and am considering upgrading to either the Bear 650 or the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo. I ride mostly on weekends, covering over 200 km and do a bit of city riding during the week. Which of these bikes is the better long-term choice for both city use and long rides? Between the two bikes you're considering, we'd recommend you steer clear of the Moto Morini because of its minuscule dealer network and because this bike has yet to prove its reliability in our market. Coming to the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is a great bike in many ways, but its stiff rear suspension can be a dealbreaker over bad roads. Instead, we recommend you look at the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 for highway usage. If you're open to the idea of a pre-loved machine, a good condition, used Kawasaki Versys 650 should be available around the Rs 5 lakh mark, which is a similar amount of money as the bikes you're considering anyway.

    Asked by: Navin Koshy John I currently drive a 2014 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, which feels underpowered for my driving style and returns only about 15 km/l on average. I’m looking for a mid-size SUV with good ride comfort, enough power for enjoyable highway overtakes, and decent fuel efficiency as a bonus. Safety is important. My budget is ₹12 lakh, and I’m considering the Citroen C3 Aircross, Citroen C3 Basalt X, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kyaq, and Tata Elevate. Please suggest the most suitable option. From your shortlist, and looking at your requirements, we would recommend the Citroen Basalt X. Ride quality is a Citroen cars hallmark, and on the Basalt X, too, ride quality is excellent; the suspension does a superb job of soaking up all the bumps and ruts. As for overtaking on highways, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine is decent, but if you want something very quick, opt for the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol instead, which is very quick and lively. As for fuel efficiency, you should be able to get mid-double-digit figures on highway runs. In our standard highway cycle, we got 15.01kpl and 9.87kpl in the city.

    Asked by: Divyang Patel I currently own a Maruti Dzire and drive about 80-100 km daily, mostly solo. I don’t want a large car but need good mileage and an automatic (or auto-shifting) transmission regardless of fuel type. I’m considering exchanging my Dzire for a Tiago EV. Should I go ahead with the Tiago EV? If you are open to an EV and have easy access to charging facilities at home or your place of work, we would suggest you go ahead with one. Your daily running isn't very high, and the Tiago EV should easily manage this on a single charge. By opting for the Tata Tiago EV, you will also meet your requirements of low running costs and an automatic gearbox. In fact, with most EVs, the absence of a traditional gearbox means there are no shifts at all, leaving you with a very smooth and relaxed drive feel.On the other hand, most petrol and diesel automatics at this price segment use an automated manual transmission (AMT), which is not a smooth shifter at all. Thus, the Tiago EV would do you well.
