I plan to upgrade to a twin-cylinder bike next year from my current ADV 390. I do long tours twice a year and many short/overnight rides throughout the year. However, I don’t see any twin-cylinder offering in the touring category that excites me. I’m looking for a bike in the 500-600 cc segment. Are there any exciting launches scheduled next year that are worth waiting for?

The BMW F 450 GS will be launched in India next year. It gets a 420cc, twin-cylinder engine putting out 48hp. Additionally, the Norton Atlas and Norton Atlas GT will also make their way to our market next year.

The Atlas adventure bike is the more accessible model in the new Norton line-up, and powering these bikes is a 585cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that is said to make around 70hp. Make sure to test ride both machines when they are launched before making a purchase.

Asked by: Subrat Kumar I want a petrol manual car with a 5-star GNCAP safety rating, at least four (or another even number of) cylinders, excellent fuel efficiency, and long-term reliability so I can run it for around 20 years. I’m new to earning and have a limited budget. Please suggest suitable options. Looking at your requirements of reliability and fuel efficiency, along with a good safety rating, we would recommend you look at the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. It is a three-cylinder engine; however, this should not be something you should worry about as the unit has adequate performance, in fact, a very good low-speed response. The Dzire is a sedan, but it fits within the sub-4 meter footprint, and that, along with its light controls, will make it an easy drive for you.

It's hard to specify a car without knowing something about your needs, but yes, the Nissan Magnite is a good car. The turbo petrol engine is a very good performer, and along with the CVT automatic gearbox, it delivers an enjoyable drive experience. The ride is good, there's a good amount of equipment, and it's very well priced. With the update, Nissan has also addressed some of the cost-cutting issues around the cabin.

Asked by: Abdulkadir My Highness is smooth and great for two-up riding. I’ve taken it on trips to Kerala and Tawang. Now I want a bike that is compact, fast, and has good suspension for Mumbai city use. Which bike would you suggest? Some options you can consider are the TVS Apache RTR 310, KTM 390 Duke, Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. The Triumph and Royal Enfield aren't as overly sporty as the other two and will have a more effortless riding experience owing to their torque delivery, which is earlier in the rev band. The KTM 390 Duke is a proven product when it comes to sheer speed, but in its latest avatar has become quite compact, which may not be the best thing if you are a larger person. Last but not least, the TVS Apache RTR 310 has great handling and reasonable performance. We would recommend getting the variant with the quickshifter on the TVS as that offers the best value for your money. Take a test ride of everything you're considering before you decide.
