I am looking for a safer car I have rolled up to 2 options like Skoda kushaq facelift and Volkswagen Taigun facelift but few things are missing in kushaq facelift like 360 degree camera and Adas Does it really need or we have better options than these kushaq and taigun has 5 star rating also am not looking for tata cars because of their service centers issue

The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun are indeed good options, and the fact that they have a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP is a big plus. The absence of a 360-degree camera and ADAS is not a deal-breaker, and they're still worth considering for their strong engines, smooth gearboxes and excellent driving dynamics.

Do note, however, that both cars are still a few months away, with the Kushaq facelift expected to launch in March, and the Taigun facelift a few months after that. If not those, you could also consider the new Kia Seltos. It hasn't been given an NCAP rating yet, but its smaller sibling the Syros has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, and as the Seltos is built on a new-gen platform, we expect it to get one too. The Seltos impresses with its features list, which includes a 360-degree camera as well as ADAS with Level 2 Autonomous driving.

The Kia Seltos is the better pick. Being significantly larger than the Mahindra XUV 3XO, the Seltos offers a roomier cabin and larger boot. The Seltos IVT's engine-gearbox is also superior to the 3X0's diesel-AMT combo. The Seltos IVT delivers a seamless drive experience that the 3XO's AMT just can't match. However, the IVT will not be as fuel efficient as the 3XO diesel. We'd urge you to extend your budget for the Seltos IVT in HTK trim that adds in essentials like a rear wiper and defogger. The HTK also gets other features such as steering reach adjust, rear window sunshades and alloy wheels.

Hi Autocar expert.. I am planning to buy new car it will be my 1st car. My budget would be around 25 Lakhs. I have a confused between Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra and Toyota Hyryder. Want to opt for top end automatic transmission. Also help me which engine should I go for petrol/diesel? My montly run would be around 200-300kms roughly not daily use tho.

With your limited running, a petrol-engined vehicle would be advisable. Since you are looking at a top-end automatic version, the Tata Sierra and Kia Seltos are both good options. The Hyryder is good, but it is the oldest of this trio and you won’t see much benefit from its hybrid system with your limited running.Between the Sierra and the Seltos, it depends on where your priorities lie. Both offer refined and powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, but the Sierra uses a six-speed torque converter gearbox, which is smoother in the city, while the Seltos uses a 7-speed DCT that is quicker to shift but can sometimes hesitate in traffic. The Sierra is the pricier of the two but also has the roomier cabin and more features.It is worth noting that Tata’s service experience can be hit or miss, while Kia’s is generally regarded as among the best in the segment. If the roomier cabin, features and the sheer road presence the Sierra offers are important to you, then it is the one to have. But if service experience is a priority, then the Seltos is the safer bet. However, before deciding, do take a test drive of both SUVs.

We'd recommend waiting for the Renault Duster that will be launched on March 17. On paper, it could be the best suited to your requirements. The engine promises enough power for highway drives, and if the build is anything like the old Duster's, it will be ideal for your hill drives too, especially in testing environs like Ladakh. Of the other options on the list, the Skoda Kushaq/ Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 MT could fit the bill for you. They have a robust build, punchy engines and deliver good economy when driven in a relaxed manner.
