MG Windsor
The MG Windsor price starts at ₹14.00 lakh and goes up ₹18.39 lakh, (ex-showroom). The Windsor is a midsize electric car in India which has been derived from the Wuling Cloud EV that's sold overseas by parent group SAIC. At this price point, the Windsor rivals the other midsize and compact EVs such as the Tata Nexon EV, Vinfast VF6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV.
The MG Windsor is available in 5 variants. The Windsor is available with two battery pack options - a 38kWh unit and a 52.9kWh unit. Both versions come with a front axle-mounted electric motor that produces 136hp and 200Nm of torque.
On the equipment front, the Windsor Essence Pro EV comes equipped with 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment, 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, ambient lighting, OTA updates, Infinity 9-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, a glass roof and a powered tail gate.
Safety features include standard six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist control, hill descent control, front, rear disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, TPMS and also an ADAS suite.
What’s really unique about the Windsor is that MG offers it with a battery rental scheme, where customers can just pay the price of the car exclusive of the battery. MG calls it Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), where essentially, buyers pay a nominal fee per kilometre driven. MG claims this lowers the initial acquisition cost and the per-kilometre expense as well.
MG Windsor Key Highlights:
· In MG’s expansive EV portfolio in India, the Windsor is positioned between the Comet EV and the MG ZS EV. It sits right in the heart of the core EV segment where it rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and Vinfast VF6.
· The MG Windsor is currently the best-selling EV in India. It has overthrown India’s long standing best-selling EV - the Tata Nexon EV - and has been instrumental in acceleration MG up to second spot in EV sales, ahead of Mahindra and Hyundai.
· The 38kWh battery on the Windsor has an ARAI-claimed range of 332km, while the 52.9kWh unit returns 449km on a single charge.
· If opted with Battery-as-a-Service (Baas), MG charges Rs 3.9 per km for the 38kWh variants, while it is Rs 4.5 per km for the larger 52.9kWh variants
· As standard, the Excite and Exclusive trims come with a 3.3kW AC charger, while the Exclusive, Essence and Essence Pro can be had with a faster 7.4kW AC charger.
· The MG Windsor has a ground clearance of 186mm, which is sufficient for Indian roads. It also has a very large boot, rated at 604-litres for the 38kWh variants and 579kWh for the 52.9kWh variants.

MG Windsor FAQs
Trending Questions on MG Windsor - Answered by Autocar Experts
I have a budget of ₹18 lakh and an average daily commute of around 75 km. I am planning to buy an electric car - what are the best EV options available in this price range?
The best sub Rs 20 lakh EV for city use and short distances is the MG Windsor. It has compact dimensions which give it good manouverability in the city but without compromising on cabin space, which is very generous. It is easy-to-drive, well-equipped and has enough range for your daily runs of 75km and more.
A brittle ride and a fair bit of road noise that creeps into the cabin are the only real drawbacks. You can get the Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro, depending on how much you can stretch your budget.
Hello Autocar team. We are a family of five and mostly chauffeur-driven. Our daily running is almost 70 km. We want to buy an EV to save on fuel cost, primarily for city driving and occasional round trips of about 180-200 km to our native place. We have shortlisted the Punch EV Empowered S Long Range, the XUV3XO EV AX5, and the Windsor. Which one should we choose? We prefer comfort, safety, and service reliability. This will be our second car.
While the Tata Punch EV is a good all-rounder, it is perhaps a size too small for a family of 5 or to be chauffeur driven in. The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Windsor have far more spacious cabins, but then the Mahindra is low on boot space when it comes to your 180-200km round trip. However, this would still be our pick as it has a spacious cabin for 5, tough chassis and comfortable ride quality.
The Windsor may be more spacious on the whole, but its suspension and ride are quite stiff, and its large touchscreen, which controls the entire car, is full of bugs and glitches. Moreover, in standard guise, it has a very low range, and you would have to move up to the Pro version, which will increase your budget. Also consider the Tata Nexon EV, which, though expensive, feels like a more complete car than any of these.
My budget is ₹20 lakh, and I am looking to buy a family car. I am confused between choosing an EV or a petrol car. The Honda Elevate ZX AT is one option I am considering, along with the MG Windsor Pro Essence. Please help me decide.
I own two cars, a Honda City and a Baleno, both mainly used for city driving. My total petrol expense is around ₹17,000 per month, with the Baleno being used more frequently than the City. I am now looking to buy a trouble-free EV, but am confused between the Tata Punch EV, the MG Windsor EV, and the new 3XO EV. I live in an independent house, so home charging is not an issue. Please guide me.
I want to buy a car for my parents (both around 60 years old). The monthly running will be about 1,000km. We are looking for an automatic with good mileage, and the budget is ₹15-18 lakh. Should we consider an EV?
Hello, I am looking to buy a new car with a budget of ₹15 to 18 lakh. I am open to either an electric vehicle or a petrol manual, and want a car with good features.
My daily commute ranges between 40 and 50 km. Which EV would you suggest between the MG Windsor EV and the Tata Punch EV, or should I wait for the Tata Sierra EV? I am 6 ft 3 inches tall and need good legroom.
I am looking to buy a new EV/ Hybrid car with great cabin space. Budget is 15 to 18 lakhs. Mostly city driving with occasional trips 1-2 times a month. What do you suggest?
Given your requirement for a spacious cabin, the MG Windsor EV is a great choice for you. The interior room is a highlight, and the Windsor EV actually feels roomier than some larger cars.
The Windsor EV is also pleasant to drive, though we'd suggest you opt for the Pro version that uses a larger 52.9kWh battery pack - the added range will come in handy on your outstation trips. The Windsor EV Exclusive Pro is just out of your budget, but it is the one we'd recommend you consider.
