Hi team, I have been using a Baleno Delta MT for the past 9 years and am now looking to change my car. My preference is a midsize SUV with an automatic transmission. My budget is around Rs 15 lakh. Please suggest a good option.
If you want to buy a midsize SUV, we would suggest stretching your budget slightly, as the automatic versions of the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos sit just above this price point.
Among these, the recently launched Seltos HTE(O) CVT stands out as the best pick. While the model itself is new, the 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with the CVT automatic is a proven and reliable powertrain that has been in use across earlier Seltos models and several Hyundai cars for years.
This Kia car also offers good space and a comfortable ride, and even the lower HTE(O) variant is well-equipped with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 60:40 split folding rear seat.

I am looking for a mid-size SUV under Rs 17 lakh and have narrowed it down to the Honda Elevate and the new Kia Seltos. Most of my driving will be on highways, and I prefer a manual transmission. Which one should I choose?
Between the two options, you can go ahead with the Kia Seltos, the HTK(O) MT variant. The new Seltos is longer and wider than the Elevate, giving you more space. It is also better equipped than Elevate.
Elevate's noise insulation is not the best in the segment, and a fair amount of engine noise and road noise enters the cabin, which can be bothersome on highway journeys.

Iโm looking for a family car with comfort as the top priority. My usage is mostly in the city, with occasional highway runs to the airport. I want something reliable and easy-going. I am considering the Kia Sonet GTX, Hyundai Venue HX10, Honda Elevate ZX, and Kia Seltos HTX(A) IVT. Iโm looking for your opinion.
We would rule out the Kia Sonet as it is a compact SUV and much smaller than the Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos, and hence, both comfort and luggage space wonโt be anywhere near as good.
Between the Seltos and the Elevate, we suggest you opt for the new Seltos, which is better than the Elevate in many ways. Firstly, the Kia Seltosโs 1.5 engine is smoother, and the iVT transmission is much better than Elevateโs CVT, which has much more of the โrubber bandโ effect where the engine makes a straining sound when revved.
The new Seltosโs interiors are far more plush, and the back seat is comfortable too. The new Seltos has a larger boot than before, which is very useful for your airport runs.

My budget is โน20 lakh, and I am looking to buy a family car. I am confused between choosing an EV or a petrol car. The Honda Elevate ZX AT is one option I am considering, along with the MG Windsor Pro Essence. Please help me decide.
The MG Windsor Essence Pro is spacious enough for four people, but it has limitations as a family car. Firstly, being an electric car with a moderate range, it's best as a city car and not convenient for out-of-town trips. Also, the boot isnโt spacious enough for a family of four's luggage on a long weekend trip.
The Honda Elevate is the more sensible choice as a family car. It is reliable, efficient, very spacious, and has a big boot. With this Honda car, you canโt really go wrong.

I have been very happy with the Honda City and drive only about 5,000km a year. I now need to purchase a new car, but am unable to decide between the Honda Elevate and the Honda City.
The Honda City and Elevate are similar in many respects, and the choice largely comes down to your preferred body style. The Elevate, with its higher ground clearance, is better suited to handling the unpredictability of Indian roads. Its practical boot (though City has a larger boot on paper, but Elevate's boot is easier to use), high seating position, and airy cabin are added advantages. The Elevate also gets a larger touchscreen and a more modern interior layout. So we would suggest go for Honda Elevate.

Hi, I'm planning to upgrade from 2012 Brio MT (1000 kms monthly 25/75 City/Highway) and the natural choice is Honda Elevate due to familiarity in power delivery, better in/egress and driving dynamics. While a manual is my preferred choice, I am open to an automatic. Features like panoramic sunroofs or fancy screens don't matter much. Please suggest. Also, with Turbos on sale, how often do you see buyers switching from an NA to a Turbo and back to NA? Is a Turbo petrol power so addictive?
The Honda Elevate is a good choice for you and a significant upgrade over your Honda Brio. It is spacious and comfortable, with a good ride quality. The 1.5 litre petrol engine is refined, and the manual gearbox is slick and easy to use.
Considering your limited city running, a manual gearbox should work fine, but an automatic will add a lot of convenience and reduce effort, especially in cities like Bengaluru, where you live. This Honda car also gets a CVT automatic, which is smooth and responsive and works well both in the city and on the highway.
As for turbo petrol engines, their power delivery is indeed addictive and makes them enjoyable to drive, but they do have some downsides. In general, turbo petrol engines are not as smooth as naturally aspirated units and can feel slightly jerky at low speeds. Their fuel efficiency is also very sensitive to throttle inputs, and with a heavier right foot, mileage can drop sharply.
If you are keen on turbo petrol options, you can consider the new Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta N Line or the Tata Sierra. The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun are also worth considering, but we would suggest waiting, as their updates are expected soon.

I have been driving a Honda Jazz Automatic for the last seven years. I am 6 feet tall and now want to buy a new compact SUV such as the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Grand Vitara, Brezza, or Taigun. Please advise which of these offers the best driver legroom so my knees are not strained. I am a retired 69-year-old.
The Honda Elevate would be a great upgrade based on your requirements. It has a spacious pedal box and a wide range of adjustment for the driverโs seat, which makes it comfortable even for taller drivers. It will also feel familiar, as it uses a CVT transmission similar to the Jazz you are used to driving. The engine and gearbox combination is smooth, making the Elevate easy and stress-free to drive. This Honda car also offers a comfortable ride quality, good cabin space and a large boot, making it a well-rounded package.
In the case of the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, their updates are expected soon. Also, while their turbo petrol engines are punchy, they are not as smooth in everyday driving as the Elevateโs naturally aspirated engine paired with the CVT.
The Hyundai Creta CVT would have been a good option too, but its centre console tends to intrude and can brush against the left knee, especially if you are a tall driver.

Hello Team Autocar, I am planning to upgrade from my 2018 Honda Amaze. My monthly running is around 500 km, mostly within the city. I am looking for a mid-size SUV that is enjoyable to drive in the city and comfortable for occasional long trips, with a good cabin feel. My budget is between โน13-16 lakh. I have shortlisted the Brezza but am exploring alternatives.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a car you simply can't go wrong with; it delivers on all aspects - space, comfort, features, efficiency, reliability, and more. But this Maruti Suzuki car falls within the compact SUV category. If you're looking for something a touch larger, why not consider the Honda Elevate?
Being a Honda car, the ownership experience will be familiar and hassle-free. Moreover, the Elevate's excellent seat and ride comfort make it a great choice. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine is punchy, the seating position is high, and its cabin also feels quite upmarket. You could get the mid CVT version for its smoothness and convenience, or pick one of the higher manual trims that'll fall within your budget.

Hello, I'm a Honda fanboy and looking to buy a new vehicle in 2026. Inclined towards a subcompact SUV. Will Honda launch the WRV? I have checked the Elevate and really liked it. But the automatic variant is above my budget. My regular usage will be on the highway, going to my hometown and back. Plus, once or twice a month 200 km one-sided and basic city runs on the weekends.
While there are plans for Honda to eventually re-enter the compact SUV segment, they are unfortunately very far away. While Honda is reportedly planning 10 new model launches for India by 2030, the compact SUV will likely be one of the last of these. Honda plans to first launch CBU-imported halo products, followed by a localised midsize electric car based on the Honda Zero Alpha, then new-gen ICE and hybrid replacements for the City and Elevate on a new platform. Finally, after these, there is a chance this new platform could be scaled down to a compact SUV once the development costs have been absorbed, but given the expected launch cycle, this won't be before 2028-29.
If you're really a fan of the Honda Elevate, see if you can stretch your budget to buy one new. Or better yet, check out the used market for a lightly-driven example that's not too old, which you should get at a better price. Check out Spinny for vetted and approved used examples.

I need a car for my family under 15 lakhs. My height is 6 ft, so smaller cars are uncomfortable for me. I would like to go for a safe & reliable car. My running is under 500km monthly, with 80% city and 20% highway. I'm okay with a pre-owned car/SUV as well. Thanks!
Given your height, we feel a compact SUV will best suit your requirements. Among the models within your budget, the Kia Syros is the roomiest and will be very comfortable for your build. There's a lot of space at the back too, and the luggage room is also good.
This Kia car comes packed with plenty of safety kit as standard, and has the added reassurance of a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. It is easy to drive, though the ride quality can feel slightly firm.
Of the other new options within your budget, the Nissan Magnite Turbo, Renault Kiger Turbo, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and lower trim versions of the Honda Elevate and Hyundai Creta are also worth a look.
