The Honda 0 α (Alpha) SUV concept has been revealed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, marking the entry point to the Japanese brand’s 0 Series of EVs. Honda has confirmed the production-spec 0 α electric SUV will launch in India and Japan starting in 2027, among other global markets. Unlike the larger Honda 0 SUV that will be brought to India via the CBU route next year, the 0 α SUV will be produced in India.

The new Honda SUV concept is smaller than the 0 SUV showcased at CES at the start of the year but shares the same development approach – the company calls it ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ – and design language, along with the wide and upright stance. While the sharply raked front and vertical rear windscreens are prominent, the window line tapers sharply to the rear. The thick C-pillar is reminiscent of an MPV, and a small boot spoiler is visible.

The front ‘grille’ area sports an illuminated Honda logo and a charging port, framed on the side and above by the headlights. A prominent chin flows into thick body cladding along the sides, and the aero-design 19-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels sit in protruding wheel arches. The rear windscreen is framed by full-width, U-shaped tail-lights, and there's an oversized faux bash plate on the rear bumper, which integrates smaller light units.

Honda design executive Taku Fukui confirmed that the Honda 0 α concept is close to production, and most design details will be seen on the final production model.

Although Honda has yet to reveal the interior or technical details of the Honda 0 α SUV, speaking to , Toshikazu Hirose, a chief engineer at Honda Motor Co, said that the wheelbase length will be 2,700-2,800mm, and that they have maximised interior room. The upright rear tailgate also hints at good luggage space and interior room.

Hirose went on to say that Honda will offer two battery pack options with the production-spec α SUV, and both will have LFP batteries, which are more suitable for the hot conditions in India. While the exact battery capacity has yet to be revealed, he did mention they would be competitive, likely to be 65kWh-75kWh units. To start with, the Honda 0 α SUV will be a single-motor, front-wheel-drive EV.
