Honda will launch the 0 Series SUV in India in 2026, and it will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), say sources. The premium all-electric SUV, first showcased at CES 2025 as a prototype, is based on an all-new born-electric platform. The production model is due in the first half of 2026. Honda 0 Series SUV exterior and interior

The SUV will be the first of seven models in Honda’s new 0 Series of EVs. It is based on the Space-Hub concept shown at CES 2024. The prototype SUV boasts a very unconventional design, and the squared-off rear section lends it an MPV-like stance. The design intends to maximise interior space, with the large glass house enhancing visibility. The bodywork is neat, devoid of sharp lines, likely in the interest of aerodynamic efficiency. A couple of noteworthy design highlights are the U-shaped tail-lamps and the protruding front and rear bumpers that give the car a layered effect.

Honda has also said all 0 Series EVs will be software-defined vehicles (SDVs). It will focus on technologies such as Level 3 automated driving, and Honda has developed a brand-new operating system called ASIMO OS, which will be the defining feature of the 0 Series EVs. It will manage ECUs for vehicle systems, driver aids and in-car infotainment and support over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Honda 0 Series SUV technical details
Honda is yet to disclose the 0 Series SUV’s technical specifications but has revealed that it will be offered in either RWD or AWD configurations. The car features ultra-thin and lightweight battery options to maximise efficiency. The key design philosophy of the 0 Series EV platform is “thin, light and wise”. Speaking to Autocar UK, Honda previously revealed that the 0 Series SUV will come with multiple battery packs, sized between 80kWh and 100kWh, with an estimated range of about 500km.

Honda will bring the 0 Series SUV to India as a halo product showcasing its EV technology. Pricing is anyone’s guess at this point, but it will certainly have a premium positioning. Meanwhile, Honda has also confirmed that the smaller Honda 0 α (Alpha) SUV concept, revealed at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show, is India-bound as well and will be manufactured here; it will have greater mass appeal and rival the upcoming Maruti e Vitara in our market.
