I am planning to buy a new scooty and am looking for something lightweight with a low seat height. Which would be the best option in the 125cc segment? Please suggest.

Verified

If you want the lightest 125cc scooter, look no further than the Yamaha Fascino / RayZR models. Both weigh under 100 kilos and have low 780-785mm seat heights, making them very friendly and approachable. They also come from a reputed brand like Yamaha and should be hassle-free and affordable to own. If you want to consider a product from a different brand, look no further than the hugely popular Suzuki Access. At 106-107kg, the Access is still very light and with its low 770mm perch, most people should be able to handle this scooter. The Access is also frugal yet has a peppy motor and in its latest gen it is quite hard to fault. In fact, the top 2 variants even come with ABS making it the only one of the mainstream 125cc Indian/Japanese options to offer this feature.Take test rides between these proven products and make your decision based on whichever one you gel with more.

Hi, I recently serviced my Aerox 155, and the workshop replaced the V-belt. In the bill description, it says "V-belt kit" with the code BLVWB0310000. Is this genuinely meant for the Aerox, or is it a part used for lower-capacity scooters?

Verified
4w

The code BLVWB0310000 reads like a Yamaha India workshop “V-belt kit” billing code. The actual belt itself usually carries a different Yamaha part number on the pouch and is even printed on the belt, commonly starting with BLV or B65 for the 155cc scooters. Belts on other scooters like the Fascino and RayZR are narrower and shorter. They either won’t fit or you’d immediately get slip, high revs and poor speed. If after your service, acceleration is smooth, cruising rpm feels normal, and top speed is unchanged, the belt is right. If you feel flary revs, sluggish pull, or a drop in max speed, raise it with the workshop. If you want to be 100% sure, ask them for the belt wrapper or a photo of the printing on the belt.

I currently have a 2019 Jupiter but I’m facing a lot of issues recently and am thinking about trading it in for a new vehicle. I am looking for a scooter that I can use for office commuting (about 35 km a day) and local city travel. I want to understand which scooter is currently the best in the market in terms of performance and after-sales service, as I’ve had a very bad experience with TVS in the last year. Please share your suggestions.

Since you are dissatisfied with TVS' aftersales experience, we would recommend you take a look at scooters from Japanese brands. Options like the Suzuki Access, Honda Activa 110 / 125 and Yamaha RayZR / Fascino Hybrid models have cemented their reputation for reliability, easy spare parts availability (especially so for the Activa and Access) and low running costs. These scooters are also comfortable, practical and quite fuel efficient, so picking between them will boil down to which one you prefer personally. A test ride of all these should help you make a decision.

Sir, I am looking for a two-wheeler for city commuting. My requirements are a comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and low maintenance cost. The vehicle will be used by both myself and my wife. We have shortlisted the TVS NTorq, TVS Jupiter, TVS Ray Z, Suzuki Access, Yamaha X-Zoom 125, and Aprilia SR125/SXR 150. Although we are inclined towards the Aprilia SR125, we have concerns about after-sales service and higher maintenance costs. Kindly advise which one will be the most suitable option for our requirements.

Verified
27w

You are correct to be concerned about Aprilia's aftersales service as it is generally on the more expensive side, and the experience can also be hit / miss. Sticking with offerings from other brands like TVS, Yamaha and Suzuki would be our recommendation for a hassle-free ownership experience. Among your shortlisted options, the Jupiter, Ray ZR and Access are typical family scooters which will be comfortable, fuel-efficient and reliable in the long run. Our pick would be the Jupiter because it is the most rounded product, although the Access comes very close and is also noticeably quicker. Between the two sporty scooters, the TVS Ntorq makes for a better all-rounder because even though it is sporty, it doesn't sacrifice practicality or comfort. Take a test ride of all options you consider before making your purchase.

I am 4′11″ tall and want a lightweight petrol scooter with a budget of ₹1 lakh. Please suggest.

Verified

The lightest petrol-powered scooters in India are the Yamaha Fascino and Yamaha RayZR, both coming in just under the 100-kilo mark. Other models you can consider are the TVS Scooty Zest 110 and Honda Dio 110, both of which are just a few kilos heavier than the Yamahas. Don't purely consider the specifications on paper. We would strongly recommend you go to a showroom and at least sit on the scooters to see which one is manageable for your petite physique.

I’m a student with a part-time job and I’m looking at 125 cc scooter models. I need something affordable, fuel-efficient, and with a good ride quality in hill stations. Could someone suggest the best scooter for me?

Verified
35w

The most fuel-efficient scooters in the 125cc space in our tests have been the Yamaha RayZR and Fascino models. Both are mechanically and feature-wise exactly the same, with only different bodywork and styling separating the two. Some other proven and reliable options to consider are the Suzuki Access, Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter models - these are also practical, fuel-efficient, reliable and comfortable scooters with widespread service networks.

I am 5 feet 1 inch tall and weigh around 60 kg. My inseam length is about 30 inches. Please suggest some scooters that suit my height so I can easily handle them and not feel the bike is too heavy. I need the scooter for family use.

Scooters you can consider are the TVS Jupiter 110, Suzuki Access 125, and Honda Activa models. All of these are lightweight and manageable. If you want something even more approachable, then the TVS Scooty Zest 110 or the Yamaha RayZR / Fascino can be considered. A test ride will help you decide which one suits you best.
