Hi, I am from Kolkata and am planning to buy a new car for the first time. My budget is between 11 and 12 lakh. Now, my driving will be more or less within 600-700 km/month which will involve 60% city and 40% highway driving. I want a compact SUV and my choices are Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.5 ZXi, Brezza ZXi 1.0L Turbo, Skoda Kylaq Classic+/Signature and Tata Nexon Pure Plus PS. You can suggest me other cars as well. I am confused between NA and Turbo. Mileage is also an important factor but not the first priority.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi 1.0L turbo petrol. While the Brezza NA will be more efficient, with your running of 600-700 km a month and a 60:40 city-highway split, you likely aren't going to feel the pinch. You will, however, appreciate the turbo's extra performance on the highway. Drivability in traffic is also good, with good low end performance and a light clutch. The reason to get the NA would be is you are opting for the automatic, which isn't available on the turbo. The Brezza also has Maruti’s service reach and low maintenance costs, which is important for a first-time buyer. The Kylaq is the better driver’s car, but the Brezza is the more sensible long-term ownership choice. The Nexon is a good option too, but the Brezza’s ownership experience is easier.

Added a set of all-weather floor mats and a proper dashcam to my Nexon right after delivery, and both have already paid for themselves within the first monsoon.

Nexon's rear camera resolution still holds up well even in low light parking situations. Small thing but it's made night parking noticeably less stressful.

I have a Tata Nexon Creative AMT that is only a year old, but I have already had to replace the spark plugs four times and the ignition coil once. I am still facing engine misfires and vibrations inside the car. I am honestly fed up with Tata's service, as they have been unable to resolve the issue. I am therefore planning to sell the Nexon and buy a Kia Seltos with a manual transmission this time. My priority was safety earlier, and it remains my top priority. However, I now also want peace of mind and a hassle-free ownership experience. Would selling the Nexon and switching to the Seltos be a good decision?

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza Boosterjet. With your usage pattern of a 1,000 km native-place trip, occasional picnics and only 5% city use, the Brezza is the most sensible choice. It is a proven, reliable car with a strong service network and low maintenance costs, which is exactly what you need for long-term ownership. On the highway, it is comfortable and stable, and the turbo petrol engine gives good performance for overtakes. Since most of your driving is on the highway, you likely won't mind that the turbo only comes with a manual. Safety is well addressed, and Maruti’s widespread service network ensures peace of mind wherever you travel. The Nexon and 3XO are good highway cars too, but they can't quite match Maruti in terms of service reach and running costs. The Fronx is a solid option, but the Brezza feels like a larger car and better suited to your highway-focused usage.
