Hi, I am from Kolkata and am planning to buy a new car for the first time. My budget is between 11 and 12 lakh. Now, my driving will be more or less within 600-700 km/month which will involve 60% city and 40% highway driving. I want a compact SUV and my choices are Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.5 ZXi, Brezza ZXi 1.0L Turbo, Skoda Kylaq Classic+/Signature and Tata Nexon Pure Plus PS. You can suggest me other cars as well. I am confused between NA and Turbo. Mileage is also an important factor but not the first priority.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi 1.0L turbo petrol. While the Brezza NA will be more efficient, with your running of 600-700 km a month and a 60:40 city-highway split, you likely aren't going to feel the pinch. You will, however, appreciate the turbo's extra performance on the highway. Drivability in traffic is also good, with good low end performance and a light clutch. The reason to get the NA would be is you are opting for the automatic, which isn't available on the turbo.

The Brezza also has Maruti’s service reach and low maintenance costs, which is important for a first-time buyer. The Kylaq is the better driver’s car, but the Brezza is the more sensible long-term ownership choice. The Nexon is a good option too, but the Brezza’s ownership experience is easier.

If the concern is specifically the Brezza’s build quality and safety, the new 2026 Brezza deserves another look. It has scored five stars in Bharat NCAP, including 30.41/32 for adult protection and 43/49 for child protection, with the rating applicable to the 1.0 turbo, 1.5 manual and 1.5 automatic variants.So, the Brezza would remain the recommendation rather than switching to another SUV purely because of concerns about build quality.

I want a suggestion between the Mahindra XUV 3XO REVXM and Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi Turbo. Since this will be my first car, the priorities are easy maintenance, good mileage, low running costs and long-term ownership. The XUV 3XO REVXM offers good comfort and some useful features, although the infotainment system is not Android-based and it misses features such as a rear defogger. With the Brezza, the 1.0-litre turbo engine and the long-term maintenance of its Smart Hybrid components are my main concerns. Are there any other options worth considering, or is there a better recommendation that would suit these requirements?

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi Turbo. For a first car, it is a sensible choice. Maruti’s service network is the best in the country, parts are widely available, and maintenance costs are among the lowest. The Brezza is also a proven product with a strong ownership track record, and Maruti’s mild hybrid system is very simple and reliable – it is not something you need to worry about from a maintenance perspective. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol is not the most exciting engine in the segment, but it is likely to be efficient and well suited to city driving.The Mahindra XUV 3XO ReVXM is a good car with a more powerful engine and a more comfortable ride, but Mahindra’s service network is not as extensive as Maruti’s and long-term ownership is not as predictable.

I am looking to buy my first car and am confused between the Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX M and the new Brezza VXi Turbo. I am particularly confused about the actual operation and long-term maintenance costs of the TGDi and TCMPFi technologies. The Mahindra has a very nice interior but lacks Android Auto and a few other features. The Brezza also misses out on some interior features, but I am not too concerned about the maintenance of the TGDi engine. Considering long-term comfort, maintenance costs, and value for money, which car would be the better choice?

The difference between maintenance of modern turbo GDI and turbo MPFI engines can be minimised if you follow the company's recommended maintenance schedule. Still, there could be some difference in maintenance costs between the two when it comes to oils, replacement parts and other perishables. The key factor is not to miss a scheduled maintenance appointment, which could lead to more expensive problems with a T-GDI engine. With that in mind, since this is your first car and maintenance costs are your priority, go with the Maruti Brezza 1.0 Turbo. Its overall maintenance costs are lower, and Maruti Suzuki after-sales is more reliable and hassle-free overall. With the recent update, the Brezza is also pretty closely matched on features to the XUV 3XO. The Mahindra has advantages like a larger sunroof, dual-zone climate control, digital dials and radar-based Level 2 ADAS, but the Brezza has advantages like ventilated front seats and a PM2.5 filter. It also has sensor-based Level 1 ADAS, and crucially, both cars now have 5-star NCAP ratings.The Mahindra XUV 3XO is more powerful and more fun to drive, but on most other fronts, the Brezza is as good as, if not better, and thus should be your choice.

I have a Tata Nexon Creative AMT that is only a year old, but I have already had to replace the spark plugs four times and the ignition coil once. I am planning to buy a sub-compact SUV. My budget is Rs. 13-14 lakh, and my priorities are a smooth automatic transmission and good mileage. I am considering the Brezza ZXi AT, Sonet HXT DCT, and Venue HX6 DCT. I am very confused because the Brezza’s torque-converter automatic offers good fuel efficiency but lacks some features, while the Sonet and Venue offer all the features I need. However, I am concerned that the DCT may be less fuel-efficient and could involve higher maintenance costs. My daily commute is around 30 km, mostly in heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic. The Brezza’s 6-speed torque converter automatic is the best fit for this usage. It is smooth, reliable and well suited to stop-start conditions, and the naturally aspirated petrol engine is efficient and easy to live with. Maruti’s service reach and low maintenance costs add to the ownership peace of mind.The Sonet and Venue DCTs are good cars, but the DCT gearbox is not ideal for heavy traffic. It can feel jerky at low speeds.Alternatively, if you can arrange for home charging, the Tata Punch EV is an excellent option.

It is one of the most fun-to-drive SUVs in this price range, with a strong turbo petrol engine and a well-sorted chassis that gives you confidence on winding hill roads and highways.
