Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a compact SUV with a 328-litre boot and room for five, now offering three engines across 13 variants. There is a 110hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 103hp 1.5-litre petrol and an 89hp CNG version, though the turbo comes only with a 6-speed manual and the 1.5-litre petrol is the one to pick if you want an automatic.

Brezza Road Test Findings

What we liked

  • The new turbo-petrol is smooth and easy to drive, with very little hesitation at low revs, and the 6-speed manual pairs it with a light clutch.

  • It seats five adults in real comfort, which is more than you can say for every compact SUV in this class.

  • Safety has improved noticeably, since it now holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and adds blind-spot warning along with rear cross-traffic alert.

What we did not like

  • The turbo is not as quick as the badge suggests, because we recorded 12.36 seconds from 0 to 100kph and it lacks the outright punch you would expect.

  • There is no automatic gearbox offered with the turbo engine at all, which rules out the most appealing combination on paper.

  • The suspension errs on the firm side and the car feels top-heavy through corners, while the steering stays disconnected from what the front wheels are doing.

  • There is no spare tyre, no digital driver's display and no powered seats anywhere in the range.

Who should buy the Brezza?

Based on our review, this SUV suits five kinds of buyers.

Buyer type

Why it fits

If you carry five people regularly

Our review found it seats five adults in real comfort, and the cabin is among the roomiest in this class.

If safety leads your decision

A 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, six airbags, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert on the higher variants.

If you drive mostly in traffic

The turbo-petrol has very little hesitation at low revs and the clutch is light, which together suit stop-start driving.

If you want low running costs

ARAI certifies the CNG at 26.90km/kg and the 1.5-litre petrol at 21.09kpl, so both are cheap to run.

If you park in tight spaces

A 360-degree camera and front parking sensors come on the higher variants, and the car is under 4m long.

The buyer it suits least is anyone wanting an automatic turbo, since that combination is not offered at all, and the keen driver will find the steering disconnected and the car top-heavy through corners.

  • No auto gearbox for turbo petrol

Exterior Design And Engineering

7.0

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift retains its familiar boxy silhouette but receives subtle styling revisions that keep it fresh. The updated grille, redesigned bumpers, new 16-inch alloy wheels and exclusive red accents on the Brezza Turbo variants distinguish it from the outgoing model, though the sporty treatment could have been more convincing. 328-litre boot remains practical for everyday use. The underfloor CNG tank improves luggage flexibility, although the absence of a spare wheel is not appealing; there is just a puncture repair kit and tyre inflator.

Interior Space And Comfort

8.0

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza continues to be one of the most spacious compact SUVs in India, comfortably seating five adults. The refreshed bronze-and-black cabin theme and new leatherette upholstery give the interior a more premium appearance, while the larger 10.1-inch touchscreen modernises the dashboard. While the cabin doesn’t immediately scream ‘quality’ like some newer entrants to the segment, in true Japanese car fashion, it feels hardy and well put together in an understated way.

Features And Safety

7.0

The 2026 Brezza facelift gains the latest Smartplay Pro X infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, a cooled wireless charger and 64-colour ambient lighting. Safety has also improved with front parking sensors, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert and a reassuring 5-star Bharat NCAP crash rating. While competitors such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet offer panoramic sunroofs, the Brezza continues with a single-pane unit. Misses out on powered seats and more advanced ADAS. The Brezza still holds on to a 5-star BNCAP rating, which reassures the buyer.

Performance And Refinement

7.0

The biggest update to the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the introduction of the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine producing 110hp and 170Nm, paired with a slick 6-speed manual gearbox. Refinement is impressive, turbo lag is minimal, and the engine delivers excellent drivability in city traffic. Although the added torque improves in-gear acceleration, outright performance is only marginally quicker than the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol. Buyers looking for an automatic transmission will still need to opt for the 1.5-litre petrol, which remains a refined and effortless engine.

Mileage / Range And Efficiency

9.0

Fuel efficiency continues to be one of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza's biggest strengths. The Brezza’s BoosterJet engine delivers a claimed mileage of up to 20.47 kmpl, offering more power and torque than the naturally aspirated engine. Real-world efficiency, however, proves to be different, as once the turbo comes into effect, fuel consumption spikes, though Maruti's mild-hybrid technology helps keep it one of the more economical turbo-petrol compact SUVs in its segment. Maruti’s mild-hybrid system with a bit of electric assist no doubt helps deliver these numbers, but we wish the engine stop/start was a little quicker to engage.

Ride Comfort And Handling

8.0

The facelifted Brezza benefits from improved steering calibration, offering greater confidence and stability during highway driving. It feels more settled during lane changes than before, although the tall body and limited steering feedback mean it is not as engaging through corners as some rivals. Ride quality remains slightly firm but well controlled, making the Brezza comfortable for daily commuting as well as long-distance touring.

Value For Money

8.0

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift strengthens its position in the compact SUV segment with aggressive pricing, improved features and the welcome addition of the Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. The Brezza still gets the basics absolutely right. It's practical, dependable, roomy and economical to run, making it an easy SUV. If you're looking for a dependable, value-for-money compact SUV that's easy to live with every day, the new Brezza remains one of the strongest choices in its class.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Mileage

Maruti Suzuki Brezza petrol mileage is certified by ARAI at 21.09kpl for the 1.5-litre manual and 20.17kpl for the 1.5-litre automatic, while the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol is rated at 20.47kpl and the CNG version at 26.90km/kg. The three petrol figures sit close enough together that the engine you choose will not change your fuel bill much either way.

The CNG is the clear choice if you want the lowest running cost, provided you have filling stations nearby and can live with the manual gearbox. Among the petrols the turbo returns almost the same certified figure as the larger 1.5-litre while being the more responsive engine to drive, which makes it the sensible pick unless you specifically need the automatic.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Images

Brezza images show 54 photos of the car, and these are the details worth studying closely:

  • The 10.1-inch touchscreen and the bronze-and-black upholstery fitted to higher variants

  • The 64-colour ambient lighting, which is easiest to judge in the night-time shots

  • The red interior trim, which our review felt looked like an add-on rather than part of the design

  • The 328-litre boot, and the rear seat with three people sitting across it

Maruti Suzuki Brezza FAQs

Compared to the older model, the new underbody CNG tank setup has eased a lot of boot space, making this powertrain option more practical than before. However, the official boot space figures have not been revealed by Maruti Suzuki.

One of the criticisms that the Brezza faced after the diesel’s discontinuation in 2020 was regarding its relaxed powertrain. Maruti has tried to fix it by offering the Brezza with the Fronx’s ‘Boostejet’ engine in a higher state of tune. While we are yet to drive the turbo-petrol Brezza, like the Fronx, it is expected to be more performance-oriented and fun-to-drive. So, if driving fun is more important than fuel efficiency, you can consider the Brezza’s turbo-petrol engine.

Despite being a sub-4m SUV, the Maruti Brezza offers a lot of space inside that can comfortably seat 5 average-sized passengers. The seats are well padded and should be comfortable on long drives. At the rear too, the side passengers get ample foot and knee room, and the headroom has been enhanced via a scooped-out roof.

With an output of 110hp and 170Nm, the Brezza’s direct-injection turbo-petrol engine is less powerful than turbo-petrol engines on the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Kia Syros. However, the Brezza’s turbo-petrol is more powerful than the Kiger and Magnite’s turbocharged engines.

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza has received a facelift, rendering it with new features like ventilated seats, a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen and 64-colour ambient lighting. While it still misses out on a panramic sunroof, powered seats and ADAS which are offered by some competitiors, it is still a decently loaded SUV.

I'm 38 years old, with a monthly salary of Rs. 1.5 lakh, and this will be my first car. Among the Brezza, Fronx, XUV 3XO, Seltos, and Creta, which would be the most suitable for me? My average monthly running is around 2,000 km, mostly for daily commuting.

Verified

With a monthly running of 2,000 km and mostly daily commuting, the right fuel choice is crucial. At this usage, a diesel makes the most financial sense, and the Kia Seltos diesel is the best fit from your shortlist. This Kia car is a well-rounded SUV with a strong diesel engine, good refinement and a comfortable ride, making it ideal for long daily commutes. It also offers a premium cabin and a solid ownership experience, which is important for a first-time buyer. The Hyundai Creta diesel is a very close alternative with a similar mechanical package, but it will be replaced by an all-new Creta early next year, the Seltos also feels slightly more premium inside. The Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel is the value alternative, offering strong performance and a lower price point, but it is a smaller car overall. The Maruti Brezza and Fronx are both petrol-only, so they are not the right choice at this running. The Seltos diesel is the most suitable option for your usage and budget.

I am planning to buy a car with a budget of Rs 13.5 lakh on-road. I am confused between the Tata Nexon Camo Creative AMT and Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.5 NA AMT. My driving is mostly in the city with occasional outstation trips. Which one should I choose?

Verified
1d

Go for the Maruti Brezza 1.5 NA AT. With mostly city driving and occasional outstation trips, the Brezza’s refined naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with the 6-speed torque converter automatic is a better fit. It delivers a smoother, more predictable power delivery in stop-and-go traffic than the Nexon's AMT. The Brezza also benefits from Maruti’s extensive service network and proven long-term reliability, which is a big advantage for hassle-free ownership over many years. The Tata Nexon Camo Creativ AMT is a strong product with a more powerful turbo petrol engine, but the AMT gearbox is not as refined, and Tata’s ownership experience is still not quite at Maruti’s level. For your usage pattern, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the more sensible and dependable choice.

I have driven to Ladakh from Delhi twice before, both times in a diesel manual, and had no major issues while climbing or descending. I am planning to go again, this time in a 1.5 NA petrol automatic Brezza. I am a bit apprehensive about how to use the automatic gearbox and paddle shifters while climbing and going downhill.

Verified
2d

You should be fine in the Brezza 1.5 NA petrol automatic on your Ladakh trip. But do keep in mind that the naturally aspirated engine will lose some power at altitude, and won't feel as effortless to drive as some older turbo-diesels. That said, the Maruti 1.5 petrol is a proven, reliable unit and will still get the job done. You do not need to worry about the torque converter automatic either. On climbs, simply use the manual mode or paddle shifters to hold a lower gear and keep the engine in its power band. On descents too, use the same approach to hold a lower gear and use engine braking rather than riding the brakes. The Brezza is a robust, dependable car and you will not face any major issues if you drive sensibly. The only thing to keep in mind is that the car will feel a bit slower at altitude, so plan overtakes carefully and be patient on steep climbs. Otherwise, enjoy the drive - the Brezza should handle it without any drama.

Hi everyone, I am planning to buy my first car. I will be driving around 40km daily in the city, along with occasional highway trips of around 300 km to nearby cities. Some of these highway journeys will involve hilly areas, while the roads in smaller cities can have potholes and rough patches. I am looking for an automatic transmission, with a budget of around Rs 12–14 lakh. Good mileage, safety features and overall value for money are my main priorities. The options currently on my list are the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi AT, Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 AT, Kia Sonet HTK+ or HTK+ (O), and Hyundai Creta HX5 AT. However, I am mainly confused between the Brezza and the XUV 3XO and would appreciate some guidance on which one would be better suited to my requirements.

Verified
3d

Both are solid choices, but the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 AT is the better fit for your usage. Your daily 40 km city commute, combined with occasional 300 km highway runs through hilly terrain and rough roads, demands a car with a strong engine, good ride quality and a robust build. The 3XO’s turbo petrol engine offers noticeably better performance than the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi AT, especially on inclines and overtakes, while the suspension is well-tuned for rough roads and potholes. It is also one of the most spacious compact SUVs, making it a comfortable family car. One drawback is that the boot is on the smaller side for this segment. The Brezza is the more sensible long-term ownership choice with Maruti’s service reach and reliability, but its naturally aspirated petrol engine feels underpowered on highways and hills. It makes up for it by offering better fuel efficiency than the 3XO, particularly in the city. The Kia Sonet HTK+ and Hyundai Creta HX5 are good alternatives, but the 3XO offers a better balance of performance, space and value for money.

Which is the better car between the Kylaq and the new Brezza 1.0-litre turbo? Most of my driving will be in the city, but on road trips, the car will cover around 600-700 km in a day. My priorities are decent suspension, good handling and drivability, along with confidence-inspiring highway manners. At speeds above 100 kph, which of the two offers better stability and performance?

Verified
4d

Go for the Skoda Kylaq 1.0 TSI. It is the better fit for your usage. The 1.0 TSI turbo petrol engine is punchy and offers strong mid-range performance, which makes highway overtakes easy and the car feels stable and confident at triple-digit speeds. The suspension is well-tuned, offering a good balance between ride comfort and handling, and the steering is precise, which inspires confidence on long highway runs. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.0 turbo is a good car, but the Kylaq feels more engaging to drive and is better suited to your requirements. The only thing to keep in mind is that the Kylaq's boot is on the smaller side, so if you regularly carry a lot of luggage, that is something to consider. Overall, for your mix of city driving and long highway trips, the Kylaq is the better fit.
