The Apache RTR 160 price places it in direct competition with other motorcycles, such as the Bajaj Pulsar N160, Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 160R, etc.
The Apache RTR 160 is a sporty commuter bike built to offer both performance and efficiency. It was initially launched in August 2007, and after being on sale for well over a decade and receiving several updates over the years, the Apache RTR 160 received its most comprehensive update in December 2022. As part of the update, the motorcycle got a new LED headlight, graphics, colours, and a redesigned LED taillight. In terms of power, TVS squeezed out a little more performance from the 159.7cc, SI, 4-stroke, air-cooled, SOHC engine, which now makes 16.04hp at 8,750rpm instead of 15.53hp at 8,400rpm. However, the peak torque dropped slightly, from 13.9Nm to 13.85Nm.
The updated Apache RTR 160 also gets three ride modes: Rain, Urban and Sport. These modes adjust the power delivery as well as the peak outputs, and hence, the top speed differs across modes. The Apache RTR 160 top speed is 107kph in Sport mode, while in Rain and Urban modes, the motorcycle can reach up to 97kph. For reference, the Apache RTR 160 BS6 is almost as quick as the Apache 160 4V and quicker than the Bajaj Pulsar N160 in the run to 60kph and 100kph. This performance is aided not just by the engine, but also by its significantly lower kerb weight of 138kg compared to the bikes mentioned before.
Despite its performance, this TVS bike delivers decent fuel-efficiency. As per ARAI, the Apache RTR 160 mileage is around 61kpl. Currently, the all new Apache RTR 160 BS6 is available in 7 variants: RM Drum (Black Edition), RM Drum, RM Disc, RM Disc BT, Racing Edition, Dual Channel ABS, and Anniversary Edition.

Trending Questions on TVS Apache RTR 160 - Answered by Autocar Experts
I am 52 years old and have been riding a Glamour bike for 10 years. Now I want to upgrade my bike. Which bike is best for me within a budget of 2 lakh?
Depending on what sort of bike you want, there are many different options to choose from. If you want a sporty commuter, then bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 160 / 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160 / N250, Honda CB300F and the Suzuki Gixxer models will be good options to consider.
If you want a neo-retro bike, then bikes like the Royal Enfield Hunter / Bullet 350, Yamaha XSR155 and TVS Ronin will be the ones we recommend.
If you want an ADV, then the Hero Xpulse 200 / 210 will be bikes that deserve your attention.
Take a test ride of everything you shortlist before making a decision.
I currently own a Suzuki Gixxer (2018) - it runs well and gives a good average, but I feel like changing now. I’m 5'7" and weigh around 56 kg, and I was thinking of switching to the Xpulse Pro. What do you advise?
The new Hero Xpulse 210 is a good choice as it makes for a very comfortable city commuter as well. You might find the seat height a little tall, so we'd suggest that you take a test ride before making a decision. If that's the case, you could consider other motorcycles like the TVS Apache RTR 160 or 200 or the new Yamaha XSR 155 as good upgrades
