The 3XO offers excellent ride comfort, a well-sorted suspension and a spacious cabin, making it one of the most comfortable cars in this price range. The turbo petrol engine is refined and fairly efficient, and the torque converter automatic gearbox is smooth in city traffic. Diesel is not worth considering at this budget unless your running is very high. With a yearly running of just 6,000km, petrol is the sensible choice, and the Hyundai Alcazar is a good option. It is a comfortable, easy-to-drive family SUV with a hassle-free ownership experience, and the 1.5 turbo petrol engine paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is powerful enough and relatively efficient too. Plus, since you're coming from a Creta, you'll be familiar with the Hyundai network and could even ask for a loyalty discount. However, the Alcazar’s third row is not as spacious as some larger cars in the segment, so if you genuinely need a proper 7-seater, it may not be the ideal solution. What's more, if your Creta is the 2020 or newer model, you'll find the Alcazar perhaps a little too familiar on the inside.The Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus are good options that offer more space. However, as you have noted, they're not fuel efficient at all, and moreover, in your budget, you will only get a low to mid-spec variant, whereas you will get a fully-loaded Alcazar. This Mahindra car offers a more refined turbo-petrol engine, better performance, a well-appointed cabin and a more polished driving experience. It is also our preferred choice over the Safari for its overall value, safety and ownership experience. While the Tata Safari Petrol is expected to offer excellent ride comfort and a spacious cabin, the powertrain is still new and doesn't yet have the long-term track record of Mahindra's turbo-petrol engine.Since your hometown is Nagercoil, after-sales support should also influence your decision. Both Mahindra and Tata have a presence there, but Mahindra has built a stronger reputation in recent years for service consistency and parts availability. Given that you'll be overseas for much of the year, it's important that your family has access to dependable service without hassle.Based on your usage and ownership plans, we'd go ahead with the Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 Petrol.
