Please suggest a good automatic car (no AMTs) within a Rs 10-15 lakh budget. My usage will be mostly in the city, with occasional weekend highway drives.
The Hyundai Venue is a good option for you to consider. It comes with a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that's mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Venue petrol-DCT has a claimed mileage of 20kpl, but expect much lower figures in city driving conditions.
The Venue has an upmarket cabin, a comfortable ride, and it comes loaded in terms of features and safety kit. Hyundai Venue petrol-DCT prices range from Rs 10.67 lakh to Rs 14.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

I'm planning to buy a new car with a ₹10L on-road budget. My options are Kia Sonet HTK (Optional) and Hyundai Venue HX4. I'm a new driver, and because of my work schedule, the car will be parked in my hometown for about 20 days every 2 months. Both cars have the same engine, so which one is the better choice overall (comfort, features, driving ease, after-sales experience, and resale value)?
Both the Kia Sonet and the Hyundai Venue have the same powertrains under the hood, but the 2025 Venue was launched recently and has grown in size. The suspension, too, has been tweaked, and the ride is a lot more comfortable. So between the two, you can pick the Hyundai Venue.
Parking your car for two months is not recommended. Please ask someone you trust to take the car out for a small drive every few days when you are not around. With E20 fuel, one of the problems is that if left for long, it can separate and attract water that can corrode your fuel tank. To avoid this, a simple measure is to keep your tank full and keep driving the car.

We own a 2015 Hyundai i10, and have recently booked the new Venue HX8 MT. The issue is that Hyundai, including the dealership and ASM, has no idea when the booking, which occurred in early December, will be delivered. They just keep extending the dates. What should we do? Cancel the booking? If so, then which car should we opt for? Our budget is limited to the HX8 MT price, which has an OTR of 13.55 in Ranchi. Kindly help us out. We feel pretty helpless. Thank you.
We understand your concern and genuinely sympathise with your situation. A dealership is expected to communicate the status of your booking clearly and provide regular, transparent updates. If your chosen colour or variant isn’t currently in the dealer’s inventory, a factory allocation and delivery typically takes around 30-45 days from the date of booking.
The Hyundai Venue itself is a strong product, and a poor dealership experience shouldn’t cloud your purchase decision. It may be worth reaching out to another dealer in your city; some outlets are more proactive in their communication and may even have your preferred colour or variant readily available in stock.

I am planning to buy the new Hyundai Venue HX6 DCT petrol. Most of my driving will be within Bangalore city in bumper-to-bumper traffic, with occasional highway trips. I am looking for a modern car with decent features, and this variant fits my budget of Rs 12-14 lakh. I am 27 years old, 6 feet tall, and this will be my first car. Usage will mostly be with two occupants (driver + 1), though occasionally there could be 4. Is this a good choice, and are there any obvious drawbacks I should be aware of?
The Hyundai Venue HX6 DCT is a good pick for your requirements, but it is advisable to check the following models as well. Here's a list of options and how they compare -
- Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI AT: Down on wow features to the Venue, but has a smoother gearbox, plusher ride, and more comfortable seats.
- Skoda Kylaq Signature+ AT: Again, not as well-equipped as the Venue, but it has a smoother gearbox and punchier engine. Space at the back is less, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker for you.
- Kia Sonet HTX Petrol DCT: It is due for replacement within a year, but it is very competent. Packs in plenty of tech and shares its engine and gearbox with the Venue, and is actually a better value for money. Space is less at the back, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker for you.
- Mahindra XUV 3XO REVX A: Stronger engine, lots of features, and feels tougher in its build. Boot space is less than the Hyundai car.

My usage is very limited, mostly city driving on weekends, with one or two out-of-town trips to nearby places like Lonavla or Pune. My budget is a maximum of ₹10-12 lakh. I want an automatic for ease of driving in Mumbai traffic. I had shortlisted the Kia Sonet as my first choice, along with the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. I now find the Hyundai Exter to be quite good for city use, but not ideal for highway driving, which has left me confused. Which car would be best suited for my requirements? My personal preference order is: Exter, Sonet, Kiger, and Magnite.
Yes, you're right, the Hyundai Exter AMT is not great on the highway, but frankly, given your budget, it's not the best for the city either. The AMT gearbox gets the job done, but is nowhere as smooth as more sophisticated automatics.
The Kia Sonet turbo-petrol DCT, sadly, does not fall in your budget, but it is well-equipped and upmarket, if you are willing to make the stretch. The best value options within your budget are the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite, which not only offer a 100hp 1.0 turbo-petrol engine but also a smooth CVT gearbox within your budget. However, they both lack the same level of quality and refinement that Hyundai and Kia offer.
Interestingly, the new Hyundai Venue is offered in 1.0 Turbo DCT HX5 guise, which is around the Rs 12 lakh on-road mark. It's more spacious and comfortable than the others and comes with a decent feature list. This is your best bet, but if you don't mind a hatchback, the Hyundai i20 is even better, as you get the choice of two petrol automatics - 1.2 CVT and 1.0 Turbo DCT - well within your budget.

I am using Creta Diesel since 2016. My average running is 2000 kms per month and mostly highways. Need a suggestion for vehicle under 16 lacs. Priority is comfort and low running cost. Should I go for diesel or petrol.
For your kind of driving, a diesel car makes better sense. Since you have been driving the Hyundai Creta diesel, you can either opt for the Creta again or consider the Mahindra Scorpio N, though you may need to stretch your budget to get a variant with the features you want.
If you need to stay within your budget, the Hyundai Venue diesel is a good alternative. It uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 116hp and is refined with low noise levels. The ride quality is comfortable and will keep you comfortable on your long drives.

Hi all. I am currently using a Hyundai Eon and plan to purchase a comfortable SUV with good mileage and low maintenance under ₹14 lakh. I prefer Hyundai, but not the Exter. Please suggest.
Since you are comfortable with Hyundai, the new Venue is worth considering. It is a well-packaged compact SUV that scores well in cabin space and quality. There are several variants of the Venue available within your ₹14 lakh budget.
To give an overview of the engine and gearbox options, the standard 1.2-litre petrol engine is the lowest in power, but it is pleasant for city use. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol feels noticeably stronger and performs better on highways. The 1.5-litre diesel is refined, smooth, and efficient, but it only makes sense if you have higher running.

Hi Team, we are a family of five with a monthly usage of around 1,000 km, of which nearly 90% is city driving. I am confused between the Hyundai Venue HX8 1.0 turbo-petrol DCT and the Maruti Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid Alpha Optional manual. The price difference between the two is around ₹1 lakh after current offers. Please suggest a better option.
The Hyundai Venue, with its turbo-petrol engine and dual-clutch transmission, is more fun to drive and offers stronger performance along with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. So if your daily usage includes a lot of stop-and-go traffic, this could be a deciding factor for you. This Hyundai car is also equipped with a better audio system, and its relatively smaller size makes it a touch easier to park as well.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, on the other hand, offers light controls and a refined yet responsive 1.5-litre petrol engine. Its 5-speed manual gearbox is among the best in the segment. It also feels a touch more adept while dealing with bad roads, and its overall ride quality is better.
Yes, you are getting a larger car that's a bit more mature, but you are also paying more. So if you don't mind spending that extra amount, and you're willing to sacrifice the convenience of an automatic, go for the Maruti car.
