EV sales November 2025

India’s electric passenger vehicle market grew 61 percent year-on-year (YoY) in November with 14,739 units registered, making it the fifth-best month of 2025. Tata Motors continues to lead with a 42 percent EV market share, while JSW MG Motor and Mahindra retain their spots in the top three.

November was also a notable month for new entrants: Vinfast climbed to seventh place among 16 EV makers, while Tesla completed its third month of retail activity.

With established players expanding portfolios and newer brands building traction, November data shows the EV segment consolidating strongly even as total PV sales settled after October’s peak.

Mass-market EV makers

Tata maintains its lead while MG and Mahindra fight for second place.

Tata continued to dominate the mass-market EV segment in November with a 42 percent share, led by strong demand for the Punch EV and Nexon EV. The Tiago EV also maintained steady volumes, helping Tata widen its lead over other mainstream players.

MG maintained stable EV sales in November, holding a 25 percent share of the market, supported largely by the Windsor EV. November was its second-lowest month of 2025 after February (3,489 units), with the yearly peak recorded in July at 5,350 units. The carmaker also crossed 1 lakh cumulative EV sales last month. MG’s roadster, the Cyberster, currently has a waiting period of up to five months, and over 350 units have been delivered so far through MG’s premium Select outlets.

Mahindra continued to hold its ground in November with demand for the BE 6 and XEV 9e remaining strong. The company also expanded its EV line-up with the launch of the XEV 9S, its first mass-market three-row electric SUV. Mahindra sold 2,940 electric SUVs last month, giving it a 20 percent share of the e-PV segment.

With 463 units sold, Kia jumped four spots from eighth place a year ago to rank No. 4 in November 2025. This success is mainly attributed to the popular Carens Clavis EV MPV. The brand’s overall EV share stood at 3 percent last month.

BYD India, the local arm of the world’s largest EV maker, dropped to fifth place. The company plans to raise the price of its Sealion 7 starting in January. However, customers who book before December 31 will lock in the current prices.

Hyundai Motor India sold 372 EVs in November, representing a 1,671 percent YoY increase and giving it a 2.52 percent EV market share. The Creta Electric has driven most of this growth, though sales have eased after the initial surge earlier this year.

Citroen sold 30 EVs in November, down 63 percent from 82 units a year ago, with the eC3 continuing as its only electric model.

Overall, the mass-market EV segment saw solid year-on-year growth, helped by improved availability, expanding charging infrastructure and rising interest in affordable and mid-range electric models.

Luxury EV makers

Luxury EVs remain a small but steadily growing part of the total market.

Luxury carmakers sold a combined 417 EVs in November 2025, up 66 percent YoY, cornering a 3 percent share of the overall e-PV sales.

BMW India led the luxury EV segment with 267 units, accounting for 64 percent share. However, it slipped to eighth place in the overall e-PV rankings after being overtaken by Vinfast. The brand has sold 2,837 electric vehicles in the first 11 months of 2025.

Mercedes-Benz, the second-largest luxury EV seller in India, clocked 69 units in November, taking a 17 percent share of the premium EV segment. That’s a 36 percent decline from 107 units in November 2024. Between January and November 2025, the brand sold 1,087 EVs, a 28 percent increase over the year-ago period.

Volvo followed with 28 EVs delivered, a 13 percent YoY decline.

Porsche sold four electric vehicles in November 2025, a significant drop from the 13 units sold in October 2025 but still a notable increase from one EV in November 2024.

Overall, the luxury EV segment continued to grow at a healthy pace. Cumulative sales for January-November 2025 have already surpassed the total luxury EV volumes recorded in all of 2024.

New EV entrants

Vietnamese manufacturer Vinfast was the biggest surprise, jumping to No. 7 overall. It delivered 288 units of its VF6 and VF7 SUVs, showing strong 113 percent month-over-month growth (October 2025: 135 units), and notably, it outsold the luxury segment leader BMW (267 units). Vinfast has also confirmed plans to launch the 7-seater Limo Green MPV in February 2026. The brand has expanded its retail presence to 24 outlets and expects to add 11 more by year-end.

Tesla India sold 48 units of the Model Y in November, placing it third among luxury EV manufacturers. The company has sold 157 Model Y units over the past three months to customers in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Gurugram.

Overall, the quick growth of these new brands, especially Vinfast, is bringing new volume and competition to the EV market.

Cumulative electric passenger vehicle sales for the first 11 months of 2025 reached 160,628 units, having already surpassed the entire sales total for 2024 (99,694 units).

Given the current strong sales momentum and the upcoming launch of the highly anticipated Maruti e-Vitara, the segment is expected to register record retail sales of around 175,000-180,000 units for the full calendar year.
