Questions you may find useful
Hello Autocar, I am quite confused between the Kia Syros and Hyundai Venue. Which one should I buy? My usage will mainly be city driving in moderate to heavy traffic, and I have shortlisted the HTK+ and HX5+ variants.
It's a close call given that both cars are the same underneath, but given your usage, go for the Kia Syros HTK+. For mostly city driving with moderate to high traffic, the Syros is the better fit. It is a larger car than the Hyundai Venue, with a more spacious cabin and a bigger boot, which makes it more comfortable for family use and daily practicality. The HTK+ variant is well equipped and offers good value for money. The petrol engine is smooth and refined, and the car is easy to drive in city conditions. The Venue HX5+ is also a good car, but it is a smaller SUV and does not offer the same level of space and comfort as the Kia Syros. Both cars are mechanically similar and share the same engine options, so the decision really comes down to size and practicality. The Kia car mentioned above doesn't ride as well as the Hyundai car, but given your mostly city use, that should not be too much of an issue.
We are planning to upgrade from a Hyundai i10 to an automatic petrol compact SUV under Rs 14 lakh. We have shortlisted the Hyundai Venue Turbo DCT and Skoda Kylaq Prestige AT. We liked the Venue, but we are not sure about the maintenance cost of its DCT gearbox.
Yes, dual-clutch automatic gearboxes are more complex and can be expensive to repair if something goes wrong. That said, the Hyundai Venue Turbo DCT is quite well-sorted. However, do keep in mind that if you drive a lot in stop-start traffic, it might not feel as smooth as a torque converter. The Skoda Kylaq AT uses a 6-speed torque converter automatic, which is far better suited to Indian conditions. It is smoother, and the Kylaq is more engaging to drive, with a strong turbo petrol engine and a well-balanced chassis. Overall, the Skoda car seems to be the safer and more sensible choice for you.
Which is better to buy for city driving between Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI Turbo 1.0-litre petrol manual or 2026 Hyundai Venue HX5 1.2 Kappa petrol manual?
Since you need a city car that'll be easy to drive, we'd recommend the Hyundai Venue 1.2 petrol for its more responsive engine and lighter controls. Additionally, the Venue's seating position is high, visibility is good, and it feels a bit more modern on the inside compared to the Brezza. Sure, the Brezza's 1.0 turbo-petrol engine is more powerful, which makes overtaking and highway drives much more effortless (compared to the Hyundai 1.2), however, since it is pre-dominantly a city car with easy-of-use taking precendence over performance, it is the Hyundai that gets our vote.
Thinking to upgrade my 2023 Venue. Not satisfied with the driving experience. Should I go now or wait till diwali?
Which is better between Maruti Brezza ZXI Turbo 1.0-litre petrol manual or Hyundai Venue HX5 Plus 1.2 Kappa petrol manual?
Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI 1.0 turbo. The Brezza is the more mature and well-rounded car. It offers a more spacious cabin, a more comfortable ride and a stronger ownership proposition with Maruti's extensive service network and proven reliability. The 1.0 turbo petrol engine is smooth, refined and well-suited to both city and highway driving, while the manual gearbox is light and easy to use. The Venue HX5 Plus is a good car in its own right, but the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine feels less punchy and the rear seat is not as spacious as the Brezza's. Overall, the Brezza is the better all-rounder and the car you are likely to be happier with over the long term.
