Every CNG-powered car sold in India

In FY26, the second-highest-selling vehicles in India were powered by CNG. While petrol continues to dominate passenger vehicle sales, its dominance has been threatened by rising fuel prices owing to geopolitical situations. Though CNG options cost higher than their respective petrol-only versions, lower running costs and higher fuel efficiency make it an attractive choice for hyper-miling customers. Carmakers now offer CNG options on mid-level and high-end trims of their models, which are well-equipped with features, adding to their growth. In this article, we mention all the cars in our market that offer a CNG powertrain, in increasing order of price.

1. Maruti Suzuki S Presso

Price: 4.61 to 5.11 lakh 

The Maruti Suzuki S Presso is the most affordable car in India with CNG power. Available in the base LXI and mid VXI trims, its 1.0-litre engine develops 57hp and 82Nm in CNG mode. The claimed mileage is 32.73km/kg, and it is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. Its strengths are an airy cabin feel, but its weakness lies in its light build and its polarising looks. 

2. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 

Price: Rs 4.81 lakh to Rs 5.31 lakh 

The Alto K10 is powered by the same petrol-CNG engine along with a 5-speed manual gearbox that also does duty in the S Presso. Available in LXI(O) and VXI(O) trims, it's slightly pricier than the S Presso owing to the availability of six airbags as standard. The engine has enough pep in town, but higher variants are pricey, and the ride feels unsettled at higher speeds. 

3. Tata Tiago

Price:  Rs 5.53 lakh to Rs 8.19 lakh

The Tata Tiago is the most affordable car to offer an AMT gearbox in CNG guise. CNG versions get a dual-cylinder setup that doesn't eat much into boot space. Moreover, Tata even offers it in multiple trims, from base to top-end. In CNG mode, the engine produces 74hp and 95 95Nm of torque, and a 5-speed MT is also on offer alongside the 5-speed AMT gearbox. However, the engine lacks grunt, and top variants are expensive.

4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 

Price:  5.88 lakh to Rs 6.41 lakh 

The Wagon R's 1.2-litre petrol engine can be paired with a CNG kit. Here, it develops 59hp and 78Nm of torque, and is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission only. The hatchback is easy to drive, and its tall-boy design lends it a roomier cabin, but its light build lets it down, and it is not well-suited to highway driving. Despite being the larger car, its 33.47km/kg claimed mileage is slightly more than the Alto’s

5. Maruti Suzuki Celerio 

Price: Rs 5.97 lakh 

The Celerio shares its CNG powertrain with the Wagon R, but is priced higher. This is because the CNG option is offered only in the mid-level VXI trim. While the Celerio is easy to drive like the Wagon R, its rear seat is not very spacious, and the cabin leaves a lot to be desired. However, its claimed mileage of 34.43km/kg makes it the highest out of any Maruti yet. 

6. Maruti Suzuki Eeco 

Price: 6.35 lakh 

The Eeco comes across as the most affordable MPV to offer a CNG powertrain. Paired with a 1.0-litre engine, it outputs 72hp and 95Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox, making it the only RWD car here. However, it is solely offered in 5-seater guise. It has good luggage space and low running costs going for it, but it feels rudimentary overall.

7. Tata Punch

Price: 6.74 lakh to Rs 10.59 lakh 

Tata’s Punch is the most accessible sub-compact CNG-powered SUV you can buy. Like the Tiago, it is also offered among various trims, depending on the gearbox chosen. Gearbox options include either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox, and the SUV is well equipped with features. Ride and handling are great on the Punch, but the engine itself is lacklustre, and like the Tiago, its top trims are pricey.

8. Hyundai Aura 

Price: 6.90 lakh to Rs 7.76 lakh 

The Hyundai Aura pairs a CNG kit with its 1.2-litre petrol engine, producing 69hp and 92Nm of torque. Its starting price of Rs 6.90 lakh makes it the most affordable CNG-powered compact sedan, and it also gets a dual cylinder setup. While good cabin quality, fit-finish and light controls work in its favour, space, on the other hand, is not enough.

9. Hyundai Exter

Price: Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 9.40 lakh 

The Hyundai Exter CNG makes use of a 1.2-litre petrol engine generating 69hp and 95Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. It has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 27.10km/kg. It is offered in four trims across its lineup and gets a dual cylinder setup like the Aura. It wows with its user-friendly and well-equipped cabin, but space for three in the back is tight, and it feels bouncy at higher speeds.

10. Tata Tigor

Price: Rs 7.21 lakh to Rs 8.83 lakh

Priced from Rs 7.21 lakh, the Tigor CNG has a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 73hp in CNG mode. Unlike the Dzire, which only offers a manual transmission, the Tigor also offers a 5-speed AMT gearbox. While comfort levels on board are great, it skips on some features that rivals offer.

11. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 

Price: Rs 7.22 lakh 

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios gets the same petrol-CNG setup that also does duty in the Aura and Exter. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and it gets a dual CNG tank setup as well. Priced at Rs 7.22 lakh, it is available in Magna and Sportz trims. The Hyundai hatchback packs a well-built interior along with a lengthy feature list, but is let down by an unexciting driving experience.

12. Tata Altroz

Price: Rs 7.29 lakh to 10.76 lakh 

The most affordable premium hatchback with CNG power is the Altroz. Tata’s premium hatchback is the only one in its segment to offer an AMT with its CNG powertrain, and it also gets a dual-cylinder setup. It impresses with its ride comfort, feature set, and interior ambience, but overall NVH levels require improvement. 

13. Maruti Suzuki Swift 

Price: Rs 7.44 lakh to Rs 8.38 lakh 

Beginning from Rs 7.44 lakh, the Swift CNG is available with its 1.2-litre petrol engine. It develops 77hp and 98.5Nm of torque, and is offered on its LXI, VXI, and ZXI trims with a manual gearbox only. Sporty handling, impressive efficiency and light controls are its strengths, but it's priced too close to its more premium sibling, the Baleno. 

14. Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Maruti’s premium hatchback, the Baleno, pairs a CNG kit with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. It’s offered on the Sigma and Delta trims, but it only offers a 5-speed manual gearbox. Cabin space and ride quality are impressive, but the high-speed ride is bouncy. 

15. Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Price: Rs 7.78 lakh to Rs 8.58 lakh 

The Fronx shares the same powertrain used by the Baleno for its CNG version. It offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.51km/kg and can be had in either the entry-level Sigma variant or the mid-level Delta trim. Comfortable seats, spacious interiors, and an appealing design are its main draws.

16. Maruti Suzuki Dzire 

Price: Rs 8.03 lakh to Rs 9.03 lakh 

India’s best-selling car of 2025, the Dzire, offers a CNG option with the 1.2-litre petrol engine that's shared with the Swift. It gets a claimed efficiency of 33.73km/kg, and is offered in VXI and ZXI trims. The ride and handling balance of the Dzire is excellent, but headroom at the back is tight. 

17. Toyota Glanza

Price: Rs 8.17 lakh to Rs 9.14 lakh 

The Toyota Glanza also gets a CNG option like the Baleno, the car it is based on. Toyota offers the CNG kit with the S and G variants. Despite the badge and minor design difference, it is priced much higher than its Maruti counterpart. 

18. Toyota Taisor 

Price: Rs 8.24 lakh 

The Toyota Taisor CNG gets the same petrol-CNG option as the Maruti Fronx. Unlike the Fronx, which offers CNG on two trims, the Taisor only offers it on the base E trim. Furthermore, it is priced Rs 46,000 higher than the Fronx CNG.

19. Tata Nexon

Price: 8.29 lakh to Rs 13.51 lakh  

The Nexon is the only car on this list that pairs a CNG kit to a turbo-petrol engine. Developing 100hp and 170Nm of torque in CNG mode, this makes it the most powerful car on this list. Like with the rest of the Tata cars in this list, it gets dual-CNG tanks, and it is offered in multiple variants. However, it is only paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and does not offer an AMT, unlike its stablemates.

20. Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Price: 9.16 lakh to Rs 11.30 lakh  

The Brezza CNG is paired with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which delivers 88hp and 121Nm of torque in CNG mode. It gets a claimed mileage of 25.51km/kg, has a comfortable ride setup, and is spacious on the inside, but newer rivals offer a lot more features.

21. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Price: 10.76 lakh to Rs 11.82 lakh 

The Ertiga’s Rs 10.76 lakh price tag makes it the most affordable 7-seater car in this list. It also uses the Brezza’s 1.5-litre petrol engine, which produces 88hp and 122Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed MT. It is offered with the mid-level VXI and top-end ZXI trims and gets a claimed mileage of 26.11km/kg. Space and cabin practicality are great, and while it comes across as a good value proposition, it skips on some features.

22. Toyota Rumion

Price: Rs 11.40 lakh

Though the Rumion shares a lot with the Maruti Ertiga, it begins at a slightly higher price and is offered in only one trim. Just like the Ertiga CNG, the Rumion CNG offers a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 26.11km/kg.

23. Maruti Suzuki Victoris 

Price: Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 14.72 lakh 

With a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, the Victoris is the most affordable mid-size SUV to offer a CNG powertrain. The CNG kit is paired with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which also does duty in the Brezza, Grand Vitara and more Maruti models. Notably, it's the only car here to have the CNG tank fitted to its underbody; hence, boot space is not sacrificed, unlike other models mentioned here. It impresses with its efficiency and value-for-money proposition, but it misses out on a spare wheel, and the back seat isn’t spacious enough. 

24. Maruti Suzuki XL6 

Price: Rs 12.43 lakh

The XL6 is essentially a more premium, rugged-looking, six-seat version of the Ertiga. The MPV is retailed through Maruti’s Nexa dealerships and gets a CNG option in the Zeta trim, priced at Rs 12.43 lakh. It gets the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine as the Ertiga, which churns out 88hp and 122Nm in CNG mode. It fares well with space in the second and third rows, but the presence of the CNG tank makes the boot unusable.

25. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 

Price: Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 14.60 lakh 

The carmaker offers CNG options in the Grand Vitara’s Delta and Zeta trims. These CNG variants get the same 1.5-litre petrol-CNG powertrain as the Brezza CNG. While its strengths include sorted ride and handling behaviour, some interior bits feel cheap, but headroom at the back and cabin width are tight.

26. Toyota Hyryder 

Price: Rs 13.38 lakh to Rs 15.34 lakh 

With a starting price of Rs 13.38 lakh, the Toyota Hyryder CNG is the most expensive CNG SUV in India. Offered in the S and G trims, it shares its engine with the Grand Vitara, which returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.60km/kg. Its ride and handling are balanced, but space and seat comfort at the back aren’t as good as rivals.
