Of the two cars you've suggested, and given your requirements, we would recommend the new Kia Seltos. 

For one, you'll find it a more natural upgrade from your Hyundai Venue 1.0 Turbo DCT, as both cars come from the same Hyundai Group family and use related hardware. That being said, the Seltos is built on a new-gen platform called K3 and comes with far more advanced tech. Especially when it comes to the infotainment system and connectivity. 

Because the Seltos engines are unchanged from before, we know what to expect from them - whether the 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol or the 1.5 turbo petrol. Since your driving is 60% city, we would stick with the 1.5 petrol IVT, as it is the smoother and more efficient powertrain overall. 

Kia, like Hyundai, tends to be reliable in the long run - as you've no doubt seen with your Venue - and maintenance costs are reasonable too. The Tata Sierra has promise, but its all-new engines are as yet unproven, and in our experience. While its 1.5 turbo petrol is smooth and powerful, the 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol feels underpowered in this size of car.

Unfortunately, none of the turbo petrol options you listed will be very efficient. Given your limited running, this should not be a concern.

We would recommend choosing between the Skoda Kylaq and the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Both are engaging to drive, offer strong turbo petrol engines, smooth 6-speed torque converter automatics, and a comfortable ride.

The key difference is space. The Mahindra is the better five-seater thanks to its wider body, while the Skoda offers a larger and more practical boot.

The Tata Nexon remains one of the highest-selling cars in the segment, but it is also among the oldest and is due for an update.

Your two options in this price range are the recently facelifted Tata Punch and the Hyundai Exter. Both these sub-compact SUVs are available with petrol and CNG options. 

The Exter has a smoother powertrain and slightly more interior space. But the Punch feels tougher, is more comfortable, is better equipped and has scored a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating. 

Moreover, the Punch CNG is available with both manual and AMT automatic gearbox options, and across more variants, which gives you more choice. 

If you are buying a new car, the recently updated Tata Punch would be a good choice. With its taller height and wide opening doors, entry and exit are very easy. The elevated seating position also gives you a good view outside, and that, along with the car's compact size, makes it quite easy to drive.

If you are looking to buy a used car, you can check out a Maruti Baleno. The car sits lower than the Punch, but it's also easy to drive with light controls and look for pre-2022 cars with the CVT gearbox. It is much smoother than an AMT autobox, which the Punch and Baleno now come with. When buying a used car, purchase it from a reputable reseller like Spinny.     

For your daily running, an electric car will do just fine, assuming you can charge your car at home, your place or work. For your highway family trips too, it will do just fine if they are about 250 to 300 kms. However, any more than that or if the route involves lots of hills, then you will need to top up. You will need to plan your travel accordingly to make sure there are sufficient chargers on your route, as they can be occupied or even not working at times. 

With your Rs 15 lakh budget, you should consider the Tata Nexon EV Long Range version. Furthermore, the Nexon will also satisfy your requirement of safety as it is very well equipped and secured a 5-star BNCAP crash rating. 

If you want a torque converter automatic transmission, the Skoda Kylaq is your best bet. It is powered by a lively 999cc 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, paired with a smooth 6-speed AT, with a suspension setup that makes driving the Kylaq fun.

With a Rs 10 lakh budget, the Tata Tiago EV will be a good option for you. The Tiago EV is a smooth and sensible car, and its small footprint makes it adept for urban usage. 

It gets a 24kWh battery and its real-world range is around 190km, twice as much as your daily usage. However, you will have to charge it almost daily to ensure there is more than sufficient range at all times. By charging the car at your home, the running costs of this EV will be similar to or even lower than those of a bike. 

Alternatively, you could opt for a diesel Tata Altroz. It is a very fuel-efficient option, and even though the running costs will be higher than an EV, these will still be significantly lower than a similarly priced petrol car.
