Exterior Design And Engineering
8.0
The MG Majestor gets major exterior revisions over the Gloster, including a larger grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers and new connected tail-lamps. The premium full-size SUV also gets more blacked-out detailing and chunkier styling elements that give it a more rugged and modern appearance. Despite sharing its ladder-frame SUV underpinnings with the Gloster, the Majestor looks noticeably more premium and SUV-like in its overall stance and proportions. The SUV measures over 5 metres in length, which contributes heavily to its strong road presence and gives it the visual appeal expected from a premium 7-seater SUV.

Interior Space And Comfort
9.0
Inside, the Majestor gets significant updates to the dashboard and cabin layout. The feature-loaded SUV now features dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, along with ventilated and massage seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and wireless charging. MG has also redesigned the centre console with rotary controls for the 4WD system and additional storage spaces. Cabin space continues to be one of its strongest points, especially in the second row, while the third row remains more usable than several rivals in the premium family SUV segment.

Performance And Refinement
7.0
Powering the Majestor is the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215hp and 479Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Performance feels strong once the engine is in its powerband, and the diesel SUV delivers effortless highway cruising ability with strong overtaking performance. However, the review highlights that turbo lag below 2,000rpm is still noticeable, while the gearbox can occasionally feel slow to respond during sudden throttle inputs. Refinement levels are good overall, and the engine remains fairly insulated from the cabin during long-distance cruising.

Ride Comfort And Handling
8.0
Ride comfort remains one of the Majestor’s biggest strengths. The suspension absorbs rough roads and broken surfaces very well, helping the SUV feel comfortable even on poor road conditions. MG has widened the track and revised parts of the suspension setup, which improves stability and composure at highway speeds. Despite weighing well over 2 tonnes, the Majestor feels reasonably easy to drive because of its light steering and commanding visibility. Body roll is present during quick direction changes, but the SUV is clearly tuned more for comfort and long-distance touring than sporty handling.

Mileage / Range And Efficiency
6.0
MG hasn’t quoted any official fuel efficiency figures yet, and we didn’t test it on our short drive. However, given that the powertrain hasn’t changed much, we don’t expect it to be too far from the 8.4kpl city and 10.8kpl highway efficiency we recorded in the Gloster. These are modest figures for a 2.0-litre diesel, but remember it is hauling a 2.5-tonne behemoth. At least the 75-litre fuel tank will give it a good cruising range.

Features And Safety
9.0
Safety equipment on the Majestor includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, traction control and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite. Features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring improve both safety and long-distance driving convenience. The SUV also gets a 360-degree camera system and several electronic driver assistance systems aimed at improving confidence both on and off the road.

Value For Money
8.0
Priced between Rs 40.99 lakh and Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Majestor offers a strong combination of luxury, space, comfort and genuine off-road capability. The premium ladder-frame SUV improves upon the Gloster with more premium styling, additional technology and significantly upgraded off-road hardware. While the turbo lag and gearbox responsiveness still leave room for improvement, the Majestor stands out as a feature-rich Toyota Fortuner rival while offering a more spacious and tech-loaded experience.
