March 2026 saw a lot of exciting launches, including those of popular midsize SUVs such as the Skoda Kushaq facelift and Renault Duster. The Hyundai Exter and Verna received facelifts, variants of the Kia Sonet and Tata Harrier EV were rejigged, and Lexus launches its first EV in India, the ES 500e. This string of exciting launches is expected to continue in April 2026 as well, with the MG Majestor and Volkswagen Taigun facelift going on sale, Mercedes-Benz confirming it will launch an entry-level luxury EV, and Toyota is expected to reveal the prices of its first all-electric offering.
Volkswagen Taigun facelift
Debut date: April 9, 2026
The Volkswagen Taigun has been on sale in India since 2021. The Taigun facelift, confirmed to debut in India on April 9, will follow the mid-cycle update of the Skoda Kushaq that's also built on the same MQB-A0-IN platform. Like the Skoda, the updated Taigun will be offered with a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol; other powertrain options would remain the same.
A left-hand-drive test mule of the updated SUV was recently spotted, hinting at Tiguan-like connected LED headlights, illuminated VW logos and sleeker LED tail-lights. The interior, yet to be spotted, is expected to be updated with a bigger 10.25-inch driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof that will come in the future. It will be interesting to see whether the Kushaq’s segment-only rear massaging seats are passed on to the Taigun or not.
MG Majestor
Launch date: April 27, 2026
The MG Majestor SUV, a rival to the Toyota Fortuner and an alternative to the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron, will go on sale on April 27, as the manufacturer's flagship ICE offering, replacing the Gloster SUV. The 3-row will be offered in two trims: Sharp and Savvy, with a choice between 6 and 7 seats reserved for the fully loaded trim. It will sport a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 215hp and 478Nm. MG will offer it with both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) setups.
It has a boxy silhouette, and its butch appearance is complemented by a huge grille and vertically stacked LED headlights. It features 19-inch dual-tone alloy rims and flared wheel arches with black cladding. At the rear, it gets connected LED tail-lights and twin exhaust outlets for a sporty look. Inside, it gets a lot of soft-touch materials on the dashboard, dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite.
Mercedes-Benz CLA EV
Launch date: April 24, 2026
The CLA nameplate, slated to go on sale in an all-electric avatar on April 24, is one of the most-awaited Mercedes-Benz launches in India. It is the first model to be built on the manufacturer’s MMA platform and serves as a replacement to the A-Class sedan, as well as EQA and EQB eSUVs in India. It will be available in either a 200 or a 250+ trim, the latter of which will be offered with an 85kWh battery pack with a WLTP-claimed range of up to 792km.
It gets a sleek exterior design with an AMG Line styling package as standard and a low 0.21Cd drag coefficient. It sports star-shaped LED lights on the blanked-off grille, similarly designed LED DRLs, and projector LED DRLs. It also features 18-inch rims and connected LED taillights with a mix of U- and star-shaped illuminated segments. Inside, it gets a dual-screen setup, with a 14-inch infotainment featuring the latest MB.OS operating system.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella
Launch expected in April
Toyota’s sibling to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser Ebella, will also launch in April 2026. The eSUV debuted in January 2026 and is Toyota’s first all-electric offering in India. The Japanese manufacturer has revealed that the Ebella EV will be offered in three trims: E1, E2, and E3, with choices between a 49kWh and a 61kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 543km.
Compared to the e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser Ebella features a different fascia with sleeker headlights and a revised bumper, but a similar side profile and rear design. The interior is identical with amenities like dual-digital displays, a fixed single-pane glass roof, a 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS, a powered driver’s seat and ventilated front seats.
