Questions you may find useful
I am planning to buy a car under a budget of around Rs. 16 lakh. My annual usage involves 5 to 6 long highway trips and weekly 80 km of city rides. I have shortlisted Grand Vitara Delta AT and Brezza ZXi Plus 1.5 L AT. Which one should I go with?
We would recommend you to go with Brezza. Both of your choices have the same engine and gearbox so performance is not too different. The Grand Vitara is larger and has a slightly longer wheelbase, but it isn't a dealbreaker against Brezza which is also good in terms of space. Equipment wise, the Brezza will offer more like LED headlamps, a larger touchscreen, a 360 degree camera and more. Ride comfort and driving manners are similar on both cars and overall if the extra room isn't something you need, the Brezza makes a lot more sense in terms of value. Highway performance is also very good and while the boot on the Brezza is roughly 50-litres less, it is adequate for airport runs and getaways.
Hi Autocar India, I am planning to buy Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid around Diwali. Does Maruti have plans for any facelift or should I buy it?
If you are planning to buy the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid around Diwali, there is no need to wait for a facelift at this point. An update does not appear imminent, and even if Maruti is planning one, expect it to arrive only around mid 2027 at the earliest. The current Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid remains a good choice if fuel efficiency, particularly in city driving, is your priority. Waiting several more months for an unconfirmed facelift may not be worthwhile, especially if the current car meets your requirements.
Hi Autocar Team, I own a Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara AT (non-hybrid) and spend around Rs. 12,000-14,000 per month on petrol. Its city mileage has dropped from around 13 kmpl to 10 kmpl. I also have solar panels at home, so EV charging would be almost free or cost a maximum of Rs. 3-4 per unit. I am confused about whether I should replace the Grand Vitara with an EV or keep it and buy a Tata Tiago EV for daily city use. Am I thinking too much about fuel savings? Should I simply keep the Grand Vitara and avoid buying a second car altogether? I would like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation. What makes more financial sense in the long run?
You are not overthinking it. With solar at home and a monthly fuel spend of Rs 12-14k, switching to an EV makes strong financial sense. The question is whether to replace the Grand Vitara or add a Tiago EV as a second car.If your usage is predominantly city-based, replacing the Grand Vitara with an EV is the better solution. You eliminate fuel costs almost entirely, simplify ownership and make full use of your solar setup. If you have the budget for it, EVs like the Kia Syros EV, Hyundai Creta Electric or Kia Carens Clavis EV are a good mix of price to range. Or if you can budget for it, move a step up to the Mahindra XEV 9S, Tata Sierra EV or MG Tomahawk EV.Adding a Tiago EV as a second car only makes sense if you have a genuine need for two cars. The Tiago EV is a great city runabout, but keeping the Grand Vitara just for occasional use while continuing to pay insurance, maintenance and depreciation does not make financial sense unless you regularly need a second car.If you are happy with the Grand Vitara and do not want to change cars, that is also a perfectly valid decision. But from a purely financial perspective, with your fuel spend and solar setup, switching to an electric car is the smarter long-term move.
The new Duster could make things interesting in the SUV segment. Would you consider it over the Grand Vitara or Hyryder?
Hi, I have a budget of around Rs 15 lakh. I drive around 180km a week. For two days, I would have to drive on highways for around 80km, while the rest of my driving is a mix of city and local needs. I am a bit confused between the automatic Brezza ZXi and the automatic Grand Vitara Delta. Both have a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. Could you please suggest?
With around 180km a week, including regular highway use, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara makes more sense if the price difference is manageable. Both use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a six speed torque converter automatic, so performance is broadly similar. This Maruti Suzuki car is the larger car, with a longer wheelbase, more rear legroom and a larger 373-litre boot. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi AT does have advantages. It is more compact, easier to manoeuvre and park, and its 328-litre boot is still adequate. If most of your driving were urban and you wanted a more convenient, compact SUV, the Brezza would be the sensible choice. However, with two 80km highway runs every week, the Grand Vitara's additional cabin space and longer wheelbase make it better suited to your usage. Its 1.5-litre engine is not particularly powerful, so neither should be chosen for outright performance, but it is adequate for relaxed highway cruising.
