Exterior Design And Engineering

8.0

Striking and radical, the BE 6 turns heads with its sharp LED DRLs, coupe-like roof, hood scoop, and dual spoilers. At over 4.6m long and 207mm off the ground, it’s larger than rivals like the Tata Curvv. Aero-friendly 19-inch wheels, hidden door handles, and a trapezoidal window line add to its concept-like appeal, though gloss-black cladding may scratch easily.

Interior Space And Comfort

6.0

The cabin is stylish but prioritises form over function. While the sporty seating position, twin 12.3-inch screens, and aircraft-style toggles impress, ingress is tricky, and space is tight—especially headroom in the rear. Odd touches like fabric door straps, quirky window toggles, and awkward button placement affect usability. Rear-seat comfort and storage utility are below par for its size.

Performance And Refinement

10.0

Whisper-quiet and brutally quick, the 79kWh variant does 0-100kph in a claimed 6.7 seconds. The three drive modes (Range, Everyday, Race) alter throttle response, suspension damping, and regen levels. A 'Boost' button delivers instant overtaking punch. The one-pedal mode and brake-by-wire system ensure seamless deceleration, while overall refinement levels are top-notch.

Mileage / Range And Efficiency

9.0

With real-world efficiency of 5.68km/kWh, the BE 6 79kWh version can achieve up to 449km per charge. City and highway range figures hover around 440–460km, making it a highly usable EV for daily and long-distance use.

Ride Comfort And Handling

9.0

Thanks to its low centre of gravity and rear-wheel-drive layout, the BE 6 is agile, composed, and genuinely fun to drive. The adaptive dampers adapt well to surface and mode changes, while 245-section tyres and quick steering make it feel nimble for its size. It handles like a much smaller car and soaks up poor roads with ease.

Value For Money

9.0

Starting at ₹18.90 lakh and going up to ₹26.90 lakh, the BE 6 offers tremendous value. It’s fast, tech-loaded, and unlike anything else on Indian roads. Yes, the cabin could be more spacious, and UX tweaks are needed—but as a driving experience, Mahindra has nailed it.

Features And Safety

9.0

Feature-rich, the BE 6 gets AR-enabled HUD, twin wireless chargers, ambient lighting, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos. The infotainment UI feels cluttered, though wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay work well. It also offers an in-cabin camera, advanced driver monitoring, and self-parking tech. The BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system allows rear-seat media mirroring and AC control.

Mahindra BE 6 FAQs

The Mahindra BE 6 is for those who want a midsize electric SUV with a radical design, along with a long list of features, strong performance and practical range.

Due to the sloping rear roofline, headroom is tight for taller passengers. While you are not seated in a particularly knees-up position, taller passengers will find under-thigh support lacking, and the thick door pads mean that seating three adults here won’t be comfortable either. But you do get a lot of legroom, and the backrest recline is adjustable.

The BYOD or Bring Your Own Device feature allows passengers to dock their smartphone or tablet on the front seatback and sync it with the front screens to either stream videos or control certain functions of the SUV.

Mahindra has equipped the BE 6 with a total of 16 speakers, the highest in the midsize EV segment. The Tata Sierra EV comes the closest with 12 speakers.

There is a dedicated one-pedal mode for assertive regeneration, capable of bringing the vehicle to a full stop without touching the brake pedal.

I’m confused between the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Harrier EV, and, if not an EV, the Kia Seltos Diesel AT for my first car. I’m 27 years old, and my annual running is only around 7,000-8,000 km, with a daily commute of 15-20 km. My budget is Rs 21-22 lakh. I have access to home charging in my apartment society at Rs 10.5/kWh and workplace charging at Rs 22/kWh. If I buy the Mahindra BE 6, I plan to keep it for at least 8-10 years. If I choose the Kia Seltos Diesel AT instead, I’ll likely sell it after 4-5 years and switch to an EV once the market matures further. Considering my low annual running, long-term ownership plans, reliability, resale value, and overall ownership costs, which would you recommend: the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Harrier EV, or the Kia Seltos Diesel AT? The car will primarily be used by two people, although my parents may also start using it for regular city driving in the next 4-5 years.

The Kia Seltos Diesel AT is a great car, but with an annual running of just 7,000-8,000 km, the diesel premium is difficult to justify, especially when you already plan to sell it after 4-5 years. Given your low annual running, home charging cost of Rs 10.5/kWh, and planned ownership of 8-10 years, the Mahindra BE 6 makes the most sense. Your usage pattern is ideal for an EV, and over a long ownership period, the lower running costs will more than offset the higher upfront price.Your budget also suits the BE 6 well, as the Pack One Above variant fits comfortably within it. The Tata Harrier EV and even the Mahindra XEV 9e are more premium offerings, but both would require you to stretch your budget. That said, if comfort and practicality are your priorities, the BE 6 may not be the best choice. The Tata Sierra EV is a better alternative. It comes with a slightly larger battery pack than the BE 6, fits within your budget, and offers an excellent ride along with a more spacious cabin. The Adventure 63 variant is the one to consider. It is worth test-driving both the BE 6 and the Sierra EV back-to-back, as that will give you a much clearer idea of which one better suits your needs.

Hi, I am a 27-year-old first-time car buyer from Delhi NCR. My daily commute is around 25 km, including a mix of expressway and city traffic. My monthly running will be around 600 km, with an expected annual running of 7,000-8,000 km. I have access to EV charging at my apartment (Rs. 10/kWh) and at my workplace through a Statiq charger (Rs. 22/kWh). I was considering the Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two 59 kWh, as the car will mostly be used by my wife and me. I may send it to my parents in my hometown after 4-5 years, but not before that. My budget is around Rs. 21-22 lakh. The BE 6 is currently available with a Rs. 1.5 lakh discount, and a new version is expected to be announced soon. Would you recommend buying the BE 6 now, waiting for the updated version in the hope of better discounts, or opting for a Kia Seltos Diesel (Rs. 17-19 lakh) and upgrading to an EV after 4-5 years? I am not considering petrol cars because of concerns regarding E20 and future E25 fuel compatibility.

Verified

Go for the Mahindra BE 6 Pack 2 59kWh. Your usage pattern is ideal for an EV, with a mix of expressway and city traffic, and you already have affordable home charging. At Rs 10/kWh, your running costs will be significantly lower than a diesel, and the BE 6’s 59kWh battery is more than adequate for your daily needs and occasional longer trips. The current discount makes it a strong value proposition, and waiting for the next version is unlikely to yield dramatically better deals given how quickly EV technology and pricing are evolving. The Seltos is a good car, but at 7,000-8,000 km a year, buying a diesel car is harder to justify because of the higher upfront premium. You would also be looking at a replacement in 4-5 years. The BE 6, on the other hand, can be handed over to your parents after that period, making it a more sensible long-term purchase. As for E20/E25 concerns, modern petrol engines are engineered for these blends, and there is no official roadmap beyond E20, so it should not be a reason to avoid petrol cars altogether.Overall, the BE 6 fits your usage, budget and long-term plans best.

I’m planning to buy an electric SUV in Delhi with an on-road budget of Rs. 20-21 lakh. My usage will mainly involve a 30-40 km daily office commute, along with occasional weekend highway trips. The VinFast VF6 Wind Infinity has caught my attention because of its design, features, and range, but I’m hesitant about its after-sales support, service network, resale value, and long-term reliability. Given my requirements, would you recommend the VF6, or is there a better EV in this price range that offers a more dependable ownership experience?

Verified
1w

Given your usage pattern of a 30-40 km daily commute with occasional highway trips, the VinFast VF6 Wind Infinity is a tempting option with its strong range and feature set. However, your concerns about after-sales support, service network and long-term reliability are valid. VinFast is still a relatively new player in India, and while the company is making efforts to establish a service network, it does not yet have reach of more established brands. So it really boils down to the support you have in your area. If there is a dealer close to you and in the areas you drive to, you could go ahead with the car. As for the company itself, Vinfast is investing in expanding their network and has also massive plans for India for their auto business as well as other businesses like the GSM app based taxi service. From that point of view you need not worry as they are not a fly-by-night operator. If you would however you would prefer an electric car from an established brand, the Mahindra BE6 would be a good option as it too has a striking coupe like design, as this seems to be what you prefer. As an all rounder the Hyundai Creta EV would be a good option.

I want to purchase a car, considering 3 options- Petrol, Hybrid & EV 1- slavia 1.5 dsg 2- Mahindra BE6 pack2 79kwh 3- Honda City Hybrid My yearly drive is 12.5K km (60% highway and 40% city), and I am planning to keep the car for 15 years. Due to e20 concern, I am hesitant to buy Slavia, as a European car may need only xp95 or xp100, which will have high running cost, so I kept 2 more options of hybrid & EV. Can I put normal E20 to slavia1.5dsg, and with all 3, which one should I pick? All 3 cars are almost 25L on road.

Go for the Honda City Hybrid. With 12,500km a year and a 60% highway/40% city split, the hybrid cars will deliver the best balance of efficiency, refinement and long-term ownership confidence. The City Hybrid is a proven, reliable package with excellent fuel economy in both city and highway conditions, and Honda’s ownership experience is among the best in the segment. It is also a car you can realistically keep for 15 years without major concerns. The Mahindra BE6 is an interesting EV, and at 12,500km a year and EV would prove to be economical. However, with significant highway usage, charging infrastructure, and long-distance planning, you may not want to add complexity. The City Hybrid gives you the best of both worlds: low running costs, strong reliability and no charging concerns. It is the most sensible long-term choice for your usage pattern.
