I’m planning to buy an electric SUV in Delhi with an on-road budget of Rs. 20-21 lakh. My usage will mainly involve a 30-40 km daily office commute, along with occasional weekend highway trips. The VinFast VF6 Wind Infinity has caught my attention because of its design, features, and range, but I’m hesitant about its after-sales support, service network, resale value, and long-term reliability. Given my requirements, would you recommend the VF6, or is there a better EV in this price range that offers a more dependable ownership experience?

Given your usage pattern of a 30-40 km daily commute with occasional highway trips, the VinFast VF6 Wind Infinity is a tempting option with its strong range and feature set. However, your concerns about after-sales support, service network and long-term reliability are valid. VinFast is still a relatively new player in India, and while the company is making efforts to establish a service network, it does not yet have reach of more established brands. So it really boils down to the support you have in your area. If there is a dealer close to you and in the areas you drive to, you could go ahead with the car. As for the company itself, Vinfast is investing in expanding their network and has also massive plans for India for their auto business as well as other businesses like the GSM app based taxi service. From that point of view you need not worry as they are not a fly-by-night operator.

If you would however you would prefer an electric car from an established brand, the Mahindra BE6 would be a good option as it too has a striking coupe like design, as this seems to be what you prefer. As an all rounder the Hyundai Creta EV would be a good option.

Currently, I own a Kia Sonet Diesel Manual and Scorpio N diesel manual. I want to replace Scorpio N diesel manual with a mid-size SUV EV. So, I’m waiting for the Mahindra BE 07 since the XEV 9e is too big for my daily commute and the Mahindra BE 6 isn’t suitable for a family. I am replacing my Scorpio N because there’s too much traffic in the city, parking constraints, and that car is huge, and I want to drive something smaller for daily commute. My usage is 70% within city and 30% within highway.

You are making the right call moving away from the Scorpio N. It is ok as a highway SUV, but in dense city traffic and tight parking, its size becomes a daily headache. The XEV 9e would put you in exactly the same situation, so it is not the right replacement. The BE 6 is a good EV, but it is more of a coupe-style SUV with a sloping roofline, which compromises rear headroom and practicality for family use.The BE 07 is the right car to wait for. It is Mahindra’s upcoming flagship EV and is expected to be a proper midsize SUV with a more practical, family-friendly cabin. It should offer the right balance of size, space and EV performance for your 70:30 city-highway usage. The only caveat is timing - if you need a car soon, the BE 07 may not arrive quickly enough.If you want an alternative that is available now, the Hyundai Creta EV is a very good option. It is spacious and practical EV with a comfortable ride and a family-friendly cabin. It is not as rugged as the Scorpio N, but for city commuting and occasional highway runs, it is a very well-rounded package, moreover the electronics and powertrain are very well calibrated making for a fuss free and easy drive experience and with very good reliability. Not something todays current EVs can boast off. Overall, your thinking is correct: the BE 7 is the right size and type of EV to replace a Scorpio N for city-focused family use. If you can wait, it is worth holding out for to see if it shapes up well. If not, electric Hyundai Creta is the best available alternative at the moment.

I’m confused about whether to buy the Creta EV or the Creta petrol. My monthly usage is hardly 1,000km, and I plan to keep the car for more than 10 years. Please suggest which would be the better choice for my usage.

With a monthly running of around 1,000 km and a planned ownership period of over 10 years, the Hyundai Creta petrol is the safer and more sensible choice. At your usage level, the fuel savings from an EV are unlikely to offset the higher upfront cost within a reasonable timeframe, especially when you factor in the long ownership period. The petrol Creta is a proven, reliable and well-rounded package that will serve you well over a decade, with no concerns about charging infrastructure. The Creta Electric is a good product, but it makes the most financial sense for higher annual running or buyers who are specifically looking to go electric. At your usage, the petrol Creta is the better long-term ownership proposition.

It offers the most spacious cabin in the segment, making it a genuinely comfortable 5-seater for a family of four, and the turbo petrol engine is punchy enough for occasional highway runs while remaining efficient in the city. This Mahindra car also comes well equipped and offers excellent value for money.The Maruti Suzuki Brezza Turbo is the alternative if you prioritise long-term reliability and low maintenance costs above all else. It is a proven, dependable product with Maruti's extensive service network, and it is also a comfortable 5-seater. The 1.2 petrol versions of the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet are also worth considering if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and a wider feature list. They might not have the same performance as the turbo-petrol versions, but their engine is responsive and both are very user-friendly with light controls and good visibility.

I am new to driving and am looking for a sub-4-metre petrol SUV with a torque converter automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 12-13 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

For a new driver with predominantly city use, its 1.0 TSI with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic is smooth and easy to drive, while the compact dimensions make it relatively easy to manage in traffic. It also has a more mature, planted feel on the highway.The Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro AT is the better choice if rear-seat space is the priority. Its cabin is wider and more accommodating for a family of five, and its 1.2 turbo-petrol makes 200Nm, giving it stronger low-end and mid-range performance than the Kylaq.However, the 3XO's boot is also one of its compromises, while the Kylaq offers a better balance of driving dynamics, boot space and highway manners. Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
