What are the Mahindra BE 6 rivals?

Contends in the midsize electric SUV segment.

At its price point, the BE 6 competes with midsize electric SUVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV.

What is the battery size of the Mahindra BE 6?

59kWh or 79kWh battery with a lifetime warranty.

The BE 6 is offered with 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery pack options, which come with a lifetime warranty for the first private owner. The battery is mated to a rear-mounted electric motor, developing 231hp in the 59kWh variants and 286hp in the 79kWh guise. Torque remains the same – 380Nm – across both the BE 6 battery options. The BE 6 79kWh price starts at Rs 23.50 lakh.

The BE 6 can be charged via 3.3kW, 7.2kW and 11kW AC chargers, as well as 140kW and 175kW DC fast chargers. Charging the 59kWh battery from 0 to 100 percent charge takes 8.7 hours with a 7.2kW charger and 6 hours with an 11kW one. Meanwhile, for the 79kWh battery pack, a full charge takes 11.7 hours using a 7.2kW charger and 8 hours with an 11kW unit, while 175kW DC fast charging achieves a 20 to 80 percent charge in 20 minutes.

Does Mahindra BE 6 have a sunroof?

Panoramic glass roof gets trippy ambient lighting effects.

7 things to know before buying a Mahindra BE 6

Yes, the BE 6 gets a panoramic glass roof from the Pack One Above trim level (Rs 20.50 lakh), and in the top-spec Pack Three trim, you even get ambient lights on the glass roof itself. The BE 6 feature list also includes a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, dual wireless chargers, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, and more.

Should you buy the Mahindra BE 6 or XEV 9e?

XEV 9e is larger and roomier.

7 things to know before buying a Mahindra BE 6

The BE 6 and XEV 9e were launched together, and there’s quite a bit of overlap in their pricing. Though the XEV 9e and BE 6 share the same powertrains, the former is positioned a segment above, is larger and offers more interior space – especially at the rear.

Notably, the XEV 9e’s exterior and interior designs are also more conventional than the BE 6, and it gets a triple-screen setup on the dashboard, where the third one is a dedicated unit for the front passenger.

BE 6 offers more range.

However, the BE 6 does eke out a greater claimed range than the XEV 9e (682km versus 656km in 79kWh variants) owing to its compact footprint, and its performance is slightly better too. Therefore, if you drive primarily in the city and are content with the BE 6’s edgy styling, then it’s the one to go for, but if you frequently ferry family members around and want an EV that isn’t very over-the-top, the XEV 9e is the right choice.

All prices are ex-showroom, India.
