Hyundai Car Models in India

Hyundai cars in India are available with petrol, petrol-CNG, diesel and electric powertrains. Hyundai does not have an MPV in its line-up, unlike sister-brand Kia, which sells the Carens and the Carens Clavis. Hyundai Indiaโ€™s SUV line-up consists of the Exter, Venue, Creta, Ioniq 5, Creta Electric, and the Alcazar. Models like the Hyundai i20, Creta, and the Verna are some of the popular Hyundai cars sold in India.

Hyundai Exter price starts at โ‚น5.68 lakh, making it the most affordable Hyundai SUV in India. The Exter rivals the likes of the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3. The Venue compact SUV takes on the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Kia Syros and Sonet, and the Maruti Brezza

The most popular SUV in India, the Hyundai Creta, is the segment leader that rivals SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the Mahindra XUV700. The Alcazar is Hyundaiโ€™s three-row SUV based on the Creta that rivals the Hector Plus and the Mahindra Scorpio N in our market.

I am looking for a small automatic car with good mileage. The car will be used purely in the city, as I already own an XUV700. The only criteria are fuel efficiency and a good automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Considering you already own a Mahindra car, we would have suggested the Mahindra 3XO. It has a very smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic, but fuel efficiency from this gearbox and turbo-petrol combination is not the best.
Based on your requirements and considering that you already have a large SUV and need this car purely for city commuting, we would suggest the Hyundai i20, the Sportz (O) IVT variant. It is powered by a refined 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a smooth CVT automatic.
The compact size, light controls and smooth gearbox make this Hyundai car extremely easy to live with in urban conditions. The car is also spacious, feels premium on the inside, and has a large boot. Fuel efficiency will also be noticeably better compared to turbo-petrol engines.

I have been using a Ciaz Auto for the last 8 years. I want to upgrade to a mid-sized SUV. Which of the current options would you recommend? My driving is about 7,000-8,000 km per year, with a mix of both city and highway driving. My budget can go up to Rs 24 lakh, and I am thinking of opting for ADAS features to keep the car relevant and modern for the next 8-10 years.

Considering you keep your cars for a long time, we would suggest the recently launched Kia Seltos. We recommend the petrol variant, considering you drive below 10,000 km per year. Within your budget, you can get the top-of-the-line GTX (A) or X-Line (A) variant with the CVT automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, though not the most powerful on paper, has enough poke for city driving and is well-mated to the automatic gearbox, which makes city driving easy. It also comes well-loaded with features and includes Level 2 ADAS, which is one of your requirements.
If you are looking for extra performance, you can also consider the turbo petrol version, but the driving experience wonโ€™t be as smooth, and fuel efficiency will be lower. You could also consider the Hyundai Creta, which falls within your budget. However, note that the Creta is due to be replaced by early next year.

I am buying a car for my mother. We need an automatic car mainly for city use, and long trips will be rare. I am considering the Exter S AMT, as its AMT is said to be better than others at this price point, and it also offers higher ground clearance. The other option is the i20 Magna CVT, which is around Rs 50 to 55K more expensive than the Exter S AMT variant. For bumper-to-bumper traffic and city driving, should I go for the i20 CVT, or is the Exter AMT smooth enough to stick with? Also, which transmission is more reliable in the long term?

Even though it is a bit pricier, the Hyundai i20 CVT (or IVT) feels like a more premium car compared to the Hyundai Exter AMT. The i20's drive experience is smoother and more refined thanks to its CVT, and it is more spacious and comfortable too. Also, while ground clearance is less than the Exter, it is more than adequate for our conditions.
Besides ground clearance, the only other reason to consider the Exter over the i20 is for its more compact dimensions, which make it relatively easier to manoeuvre and park in tight spaces. These aside, the i20 is superior in nearly every aspect.

I am confused between the Tata Nexon Creative DCA and the Kia Sonet HTX DCT. My daily commute is about 16 km, and I want a car that is easy to drive in heavy traffic, with a bi-monthly 800 km drive. Please advise which one I should choose.

Keeping in mind your 16km daily commute in heavy traffic and the occasional 800km highway run, we would recommend going for the Kia Sonet HTX DCT as it has the smoother gearbox of the two. It also feels more premium inside out, and except for rear space, which is just about enough, the Sonet does feel like a more rounded product than the Tata Nexon Creative DCA.

That said, if you are looking for more space, there are two other cars with the same engine and gearbox combo as the Sonet and those are the Kia Syros and the new Hyundai Venue. Both these cars are newer than the Sonet, which is due to be replaced in about a year with a brand new model. Both these cars are more spacious and have more features too.

Hi Autocar India! Iโ€™m planning to buy a car and am deciding between the Mahindra 3XO AX5 and the Hyundai Venue HX5+. I live in Coimbatore and have a family of four. My driving is mostly city (90%) with some highway use (10%), about 300 km per month. Could you help me choose which car would suit my needs best in terms of city driving, comfort, fuel efficiency, and overall ownership?

If you are looking at a car purely from the city driving perspective, the Hyundai Venue HX5+ powered by the 1.2 litre naturally aspirated engine will do. It will also prove to be more efficient than the Mahindra 3XOโ€™s 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine. But from the performance perspective, there is a huge gap here. The Mahindra 3XO in the AX5 variant will be much nicer to drive and will feel at home, be it in the city or on the highway. It is also wider, can seat five people in decent comfort and as compared to the HX5+ variant, it has more features too.

Considering you drive 90% of the time in the city, we would also recommend you to, go for an automatic transmission. It will be a lot easier to drive and reduce fatigue by a lot.

Another car you can consider is the Skoda Kylaq which again is a nice car to drive and is very well priced. You can get the Signature manual transmission variant in your budget or the newly launched Classic + variant if you are looking to buy an automatic.

I want to purchase a second car for my wife. I commute long distances daily, up to 120-130 km, 3-4 days a week. I am looking for a budget-friendly automatic suitable for both city and highway use. Which model would be suitable?

The Hyundai Venue is a good option for your requirements. It is a spacious and comfortable SUV that is easy to drive in the city and on the highway. This Hyundai car is packed with features and tech, and the cabin feels upmarket and well-built too. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol DCT powertrain engine is peppy and suitable for your daily commute.
However, given your wife's intended long-range use of 120km plus, 3-4 days a week, we would recommend the 1.5 diesel AT. The engine is refined, and the gearbox is smooth, making it an excellent city commuter. Fuel efficiency will also be much better than the turbo petrol option.

Hello, I have a family of three adults and one child, and we go on long drives about once a month. Apart from that, the car will be used mainly on weekends. Within a budget of around Rs 12-14 lakh, I am looking for a compact SUV with comfortable seating and driving experience, good boot space, and adequate ground clearance. It should also be a reliable vehicle with low maintenance costs.

The Hyundai Venue is a good option. This new-gen is spacious, has adequate boot space and ground clearance, and with all modern niceties, it is a well-rounded option. There are several variants that'll fall within your budget - either a higher-spec 1.2-litre petrol-manual, or an entry/mid-spec 1.0-litre turbo-petrol manual/automatic version. We would recommend the turbo variants, as they offer more effortless performance, which will be handy on your occasional long drives.

I currently own a 2016 Ford Aspire and am now looking for an automatic crossover SUV. A smooth drive, reliability, and a premium-feeling cabin are my main requirements. I was considering the Victoris and Honda Elevate, but the Seltos HTK CVT now looks like a good value for money. My question is whether the CVT transmission and naturally aspirated petrol engine of the Seltos Petrol NA are equally reliable as those of Honda. I am specifically doubtful about Kiaโ€™s CVT. Please advise.

The Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta have been using the 1.5 NA petrol and CVT combination since 2019 and 2020, respectively, and not only is this powertrain a popular choice among buyers, but over the years, it has also been quite reliable too.
The new Seltos simply carries forward this tried-and-tested 1.5 NA petrol CVT combination. Overall, the new Seltos will feel like a proper upgrade over your existing car, and is certainly one we'd recommend.

Hi Team, we are a family of five planning to buy a new car with a maximum on-road budget of โ‚น18 lakh. We are considering the 2026 Kia Seltos 1.5 NA petrol manual HTK (O), while a dealer has also offered the 2024 Hyundai Creta 1.5 NA petrol manual SX (O) at โ‚น18.5 lakh on-road. Could you please advise on the realistic current market or best offer on-road price for the 2024 Creta SX (O), and help us choose between the Creta SX (O) and Seltos HTK (O) based on overall value, features, space, reliability, and running costs?

The 2024 Hyundai Creta SX (O) makes more sense. Both SUVs are mechanically identical and are powered by the same 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The 2026 Kia Seltos HTK (O) is also a good option, since it's a newer model and has slightly more interior space. But it is a lower variant and hence misses out on some features compared to the Creta SX (O). It includes dual-zone auto climate control, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats and more.

I am planning to buy the Hyundai Venue HX10 petrol variant and want fully loaded features. I live in a village, but the road conditions are good. Is this a good choice, or is there a better option available?

The Hyundai Venue HX10 1.0 Turbo Petrol DCT is a good choice for you. It is a well-rounded compact SUV that offers a reasonably spacious and well-finished cabin, a refined turbo-petrol engine, and a comfortable ride quality.
The Venue also gets a long list of features, including digital dials, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a sunroof.
The Venue HX10 is on the pricey side, but if you are fine with the price, it's the right pick.
