Citroen Aircross FAQs

For most buyers, the turbo-petrol X variant offers the best balance between price, performance and features. It gets the stronger turbo engine while remaining significantly more affordable than the fully loaded X Max variants. Buyers seeking an automatic gearbox will need to opt for the top-spec X Max trim.

I need an automatic 7-seater, and my budget is a strict 17 Lakhs on-road price. I have no interest in Ertiga or XL6. I am worried about buying the Citroen Aircross due to its low brand value in India. Is there any news about the launch of the Hyundai Star Gazer in India? I can wait up to Dec 2026.

Go for the Kia Carens Clavis - your budget will get you a mid-spec HTE EX, which is well equipped with all the essentials, seats 7, and has a genuinely usable third row. About the Hyundai Stargazer, there is no official India launch confirmation, so we wouldn't advise waiting for it. In fact, the Stargazer shares its K2 platform and 1.5 NA powertrain with the Clavis, so you're not really missing out.One thing to note about the Clavis: while the 1.5 NA is a refined and efficient engine, it may feel underpowered when the vehicle is fully loaded. If you are frequently travelling on highways with a full load, the 1.5 turbo will make overtaking a lot easier. The turbo-petrol also brings with it the option of a DCT, should you want one.If you were eyeing the Citroen Aircross automatic for more space and power, it does give you that and usually still fits within your budget. However, Citroen's dealer network is thin, and resale values are weak, so only pick it if you have a strong nearby dealer and plan to keep the car for a long time.

Should I go for the Hyryder or the Aircross X (facelift expected in June)? I mostly drive long distances on highways and want good rear-seat comfort.

Verified
12w

We have not heard of any confirmed facelift for the Citroen Aircross X in June, so that seems unlikely for now. Based on your needs, the Citroen Aircross X 1.2 turbo automatic would suit you better than the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder for long highway trips. The Citroen Aircross offers a noticeably more comfortable back seat. It’s wide, has good thigh support, and the backrest angle is spot-on for long journeys. Ride quality is supple even on uneven surfaces, and the car stays planted at highway speeds, so rear passengers don’t get tossed around. The 1.2‑litre turbo engine has enough punch for easy overtakes, and the automatic gearbox shifts smoothly. As a five-seater, the boot is also generous, which makes it ideal for road trips. The only real drawback is Citroen’s inconsistent sales and service network. Before buying, gauge how proactive your local dealer is. If they’re indifferent during the sales process, expect even less enthusiasm during service visits. If that’s the case, it’s best to walk away.Opt for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder only if you prioritise Toyota’s bulletproof reliability and after-sales support. But for your stated priorities, which are highway comfort and rear-seat space, the Citroen Aircross remains the more enjoyable and relaxed choice.

I am planning to buy a new car around August 2026 with a budget of ₹15-17 lakh. I am currently confused between the Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming/facelifted Citroën Aircross X (expected around June).

Verified

Go for the Citroen Aircross if comfort and space are your priority; otherwise, pick the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder for a more well-rounded ownership experience. The Citroen has a more spacious rear seat, better cushioning and a softer ride, which makes it noticeably more comfortable over long drives and bad roads. If you are often travelling with family or prioritise back seat comfort, this is the car that will feel better day to day.The Hyryder takes a different approach. It is not as spacious or plush at the rear, but it feels more complete overall, with better features, refinement and a stronger ownership experience thanks to Toyota’s reliability and service support. It is the easiest car to live with long-term.

I wish to buy a new mid range automatic petrol SUV. Had been owner of Honda Amaze for 11 yrs. Low maintenance, less service costs, happy ownership. So planned to buy Elevate CVT but found it lagging in power. Test drove Citroën Aircross/Basalt Turbo AT, found them to be more powerful. But lack confidence to buy due to other ownership reasons. Can you suggest a Automatic SUV in range of 17 to 19 with usage of 80% Bangalore city drive?

Verified

If you are looking for something with similar performance to the Citroen Basalt/Aircross, you should consider the Volkswagen Taigun or the Skoda Kushaq with the 1.0 TSI and torque converter automatic. The facelifted Kushaq now gets an 8-speed automatic replacing the old 6-speed unit, and the Taigun will get the same when it is facelifted later this year. The 1.0 TSI makes a healthy 115hp and 178Nm, which delivers better performance than the naturally aspirated engine in the Elevate and is on par with the Basalt. The 6-speed torque converter automatic was also smooth-shifting and very convenient to use, and we expect the 8-speed to be more of the same. With 80 percent of your driving in heavy Bengaluru traffic, this transmission will be a boon.Prices for the facelifted Kushaq will be announced later this month, and we expect our first drive reviews to drop around the same time. Before you decide, take a test drive, of course.

I am planning to buy the Citroen Aircross X. My daily commute is around 60km of highway driving. My budget is ₹16 lakh, and we are a family of two. Kindly share your expert advice.

Verified

The Citroen Aircross X is a comfortable car which will not tire you after a 60km highway drive every day. The ride quality is exceptional, and the punchy 1.2 turbo petrol makes overtaking quite easy. We assume you will be opting for the automatic variant, which is quite smooth and responsive. Our only concern is the Citroen’s dealer network, which is quite poor, so you will have to be careful of this. See how responsive and proactive your dealer is. If the dealer doesn’t get back to you in a timely way and needs constant follow ups to close the deal, walk away. A dealer who is not bothered to sell you a car will be less inclined to service it.

Hello Autocar, kindly help me choose between the Elevate ZX Manual and the Aircross Pure Tech AT for driving in city in weekdays and hills and highways in weekends. I want a fun-to-ride but equally comfortable ride for rear seat passengers.

Verified

Both the Honda Elevate and the Citroen Aircross have a very good ride quality and are powered by responsive engines. For your requirements, you would not go wrong with either. However, to quantify between the two, we would rate the Aircross better in terms of ride quality, engine performance and refinement. Thus, we would recommend you pick the Citroen since driving pleasure and ride quality are very important to you. However, make sure there is a dealer in your area and in the areas you plan to drive to, as the Citroen network is very sparse at the moment.

How is the Citroen Aircross X AT? Is it worth investing in, and what would you suggest within a ₹16 lakh budget?

Verified
30w

The Citroen Aircross X AT is a good SUV with a crucial USP being the extra set of seats in the third row. It isn't a 7-seater but more of a 5+2, which means the third row is good enough for kids and short adults for quick city drives. You can also remove the seats entirely and use the space as a big boot. The turbo-petrol engine is responsive and nice to drive, the ride is extremely comfortable, and it has a decent feature list too. If you want maximum practicality, the Aircross X is a good choice. The other option worth looking at would be the Kia Syros. The Syros has an unconventional design, but is excellent when it comes to space and packaging. It also has a higher level of quality throughout the cabin. Sure, it does not have an extra set of seats, but it has a spacious rear seat that gets ventilation for the base and a good degree of recline, too. Also, Kia's network is more widespread than that of Citroen, and that does help when it comes to after-sales and service.

I am a retired executive looking for an SUV for city driving and occasional long-distance trips. Between the Citroen Aircross and the Honda Elevate, which would you recommend? My budget is around ₹14 lakh.

Verified

The Honda Elevate would be a better choice between the two. It has a smooth and refined petrol engine that has more power than the Citroen Aircross, and the CVT gearbox is excellent in the city. Also, it is a well-sorted car that will do the job without any drama. The equipment kit and the ride comfort are also good, while not as good as the Aircross, it is still quite nice. Honda cars are also better in terms of their network, and after-sales touchpoints. Moreover, it also holds its future value better than the Aircross.

My budget is ₹12-15 lakh. I need a car for a family of five, with priorities in this order: safety, reliability, comfort on bad roads, value for money, and highway comfort. I’m not keen on gimmicky features. I’m leaning toward the Citroen Aircross X but also considering the 3XO, Taisor, and Honda City.

We suggest going for the Citroen Aircross X or the Basalt as they are larger than the Mahindra 3XO, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor or even the Honda City. Both are these Citroen cars are spacious, have excellent ride quality, and offer great comfort in the front and rear seats. The turbo petrol engine has ample power for city and highway use, and the massive boot adds to its practicality. While it misses out on a few features compared to the Mahindra XUV 3XO, it more than makes up for it with comfort and practicality, which perfectly suit your needs.

Hi team, I’m planning to sell my 2020 Kia Seltos (manual) due to unforeseen circumstances and traffic issues. I’m getting around ₹7-7.5 lakh for it and can add another ₹7-8 lakh at most for a good automatic car with modern features. I’ve explored the Sonet, Syros, Altroz, Aircross, Kylaq, and Baleno, but I’m quite confused. What would you recommend as the best option in this budget?

Verified

Among your shortlisted options, the Citroen Aircross is the biggest, most comfortable, and nicest to drive. The company has recently updated the interiors, making them far more upmarket than before. However, opt for it only if you have a Citroen service centre nearby, as the brand’s dealer network is still limited. If you don’t need such a large car, then opt for the Kia Sonet. It offers a similar experience to your Kia Seltos with the added convenience of an automatic transmission.
