Citroen Aircross expert review
Citroën has given the Aircross a distinct design that helps it stand out. Sharing its C-Cubed platform with the C3 hatchback, the front end up to the B-pillar is similar, but the Aircross gets a unique lower bumper, wide air intake, and blacked-out chevron grille. DRLs are LED, but other lighting remains halogen.
The 2,671mm wheelbase—one of the longest in the segment—gives it a well-proportioned stance. Plastic cladding, sharp creases, dual-tone roof options, and 17-inch alloys add style. At the rear, the wraparound glass, C-shaped tail-lights, faux skid plate, and spoiler complete the look, though the absence of LED tail-lamps and a single reversing light are drawbacks.

The cabin is spacious and comfortable, featuring a dual-tone dashboard with bronze accents. The digital cluster and steering-mounted controls are intuitive. Storage is practical, though the phone slot lacks a lip, and there’s a mix of quality and flimsy materials. Early rattles in our test car suggest fitment issues.
Seats are a highlight—well-cushioned and supportive, with a comfortable driving position aided by height and reach adjustability. The middle row offers good space, though underthigh support is short and the 5-seater misses a three-point belt and centre headrest. The 5+2 variant adds roof-mounted rear AC but loses an armrest and recline.
The removable third-row seats are best for kids and short trips. Their real appeal is versatility—they can be taken out in seconds, freeing up to 839 litres of boot space when the second row is folded.

Powered by a 1.2L turbo-petrol, the Aircross delivers 110hp and 190Nm (MT) or 210Nm (AT). The engine is smooth and responsive, with minimal turbo lag and impressive midrange grunt. The manual gearbox is crisp, though the springy clutch takes getting used to. The AT is smoother and faster overall but not lightning quick to downshift. The absence of diesel or hybrid options limits appeal in a competitive segment.

The manual returned 9.76kpl in the city and 14.04kpl on the highway. The automatic managed 9.46kpl and 13.62kpl, respectively. Both get start/stop tech, though it rarely activated due to high ambient temperatures during testing.

Ride quality is excellent—soft, cushy at low speeds, and planted on highways. There is some vertical movement at high speeds, and suspension noise is noticeable. Handling is tidy, with precise steering, good body control, and reassuring brakes. It’s genuinely enjoyable to drive.
9
Feature-wise, the Aircross is basic. It offers a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, six airbags, TPMS, hill-hold, and traction control. However, it misses push-button start, sunroof, wireless charger, cruise control, ADAS and more.
Cost-cutting is evident: no auto-up windows, rear window switches awkwardly placed, and a basic key fob. The infotainment is user-friendly but lacks physical controls.
6
Priced from ₹8.62–14.27 lakh (ex-showroom), the Aircross stands out for its design, ride comfort, and seating flexibility. Its smooth drivetrain and affordability are positives, but cost-cutting and lack of features and engine options are major letdowns. With more thoughtful product planning, the Aircross could have been a stronger contender in the midsize SUV space.
